Reminder: Ward is 12 lbs away from GGG, and 3 lbs away from Kovalev

im starting to lose respect for ward. i think him and ggg are in similar circumstances, both looking to make big money off smaller guys while avoiding the dangerous bigger guys. difference is, ggg is also targeting the smaller guys because they are threatening his division and keeping him from the undisputed crown, which is a viable excuse imo. i dont know what wards excuse is.

 

GGG shouldn't of said he would fight anyone from 54 to 68. Even worse when Ward called their bluff GGG asks for 164 catch weight. It's embarrassing.

 

Ward has talked about becoming P4P#1 now that Mayweather has retired well Kovalev is the fight that would get him closest to that goal.

But chances are just like Golovkin wanting to put a Ward fight off until it makes sense, Ward wants to do the same. Kovalev is too dangerous a fight to risk just yet. So many fighters talk about fighting the best but few do.

Golovkin doesn't want to move up, Ward doesn't want to move up, then we have the stale mate between Kovalev and Stevenson which is hampered by their network affiliations. These fights will not be happening anytime soon.

 

IMO Canelo is not a smaller guy or anyone who fights at the same division. Canelo fight at 155 which is 4 pounds less than GGG (159) and has reach advantage. GGG weight is 159 which is 13 pounds less than Wards (172) and Ward has reach advantage.

Obviously Canelo vs GGG and GGG vs Ward are incomparable.

If we demand same move from Ward, it would mean he would be 185 (172+13) and fighting a cruiser. Or if we assume only 9 pounds jump (168-159=9), he would still be over the light heavyweight limit (172+9=181).

And Ward (172) believes Kovalev is too big for him

That is insane, get a grip man!
