I like all of the divisions, what I would eliminate are all the titles and super titles. This super champ stuff is ridiculous and confusing. Just have one title and one champion and have it where he has to defend against the number one contender, with maybe one fight he can have in between. But it will never happen since the organizations want the money for sanctioning and they are doing well. Boxing should have prevented this from happening in the first place. I was ok with the WBO in 1988 but after that. And still I believe one champion would be best. I might add a superheavyweight division for these huge guys like Klitchkos and Lennox..

Of course if I had to eliminate weights I would have the original weights and get rid of the junior divisions if they had to eliminate the weights. Can you imagine boxing with one champion at 147 then a jump to 160 and the next title at 175? Then a 3 weight titlist would be special. I remember when Hearns won his 3rd title against Andries he was the 12th man I think to win 3 in 3 divisions. Even then with WBC,WBA and IBF it was much harder to do that.. Now guys are doing it easier with all the titles and watered down skill level in 2018.

I happen to love the junior welter division, so that one remains intact, but I can gladly eradicate the cruiserweight, junior middle, and strawweight divisions and sleep like a baby afterwards.

Can't do it! Can't do it! And when i say can't do it, I mean can't lose just 3. If I was the Czar, Straw, Jr. Fly, Super Fly, Super Bantam, Super Middle and Cruiser is dispensed with. Also, all alphabets hit the road. One champ in 11 weight classes. Do you know how much interest an actual 'world title fight' would generate? Mega fights don't even get a byline in the papers in my town. When I was a kid they were all over the sports pages. Moreover, I was looking at some historical newspapers and actual world title fights with Mickey Walker, Barney Ross, Joe Louis, etc. were front page news. Can you imagine? When you water down a sport the way boxing has, one loses interest.

If I had the power, we'd only have one belt. But we have four different organizations, and 17 professional weight classes, allowing up to 68 champions. This is way too much.

There used to be a time with only 8 champions and one belt. Most fans knew who the champions were.

    To take away 3 classes:

    Straw weight 105
    Junior Fly 108

These two weight classes are so close, making weight for either is not an issue. Flyweight at 112 pounds would be competitive.

For the third division, maybe super fly weight at 115 pounds as its too close to flyweight. Sorry, move up to Bantam weight at 118 pounds.

Although you seldom see it, there is a pin weight division/ atom weight, 99 pounds or less division in professional boxing.

Really with all the BS weight drains and re-hydration on the scales, the weight divisions mean less as fighter can be as much as 3 weight divisions on fight night above the limit.

I used to mock the cruiserweight division. Not anymore, it has great fights and a lot of talent. With top heavyweight all being over 220 pounds these days, a 200 and under division is a huge need.
More often than not, you see large in shape men going at it. The way the heavyweight division used to be, most are above 210 pounds on fight night. Same size or slightly bigger than Joe Louis, and Joe Frazier.

Hi Jel! I'll give you a nod on Cruiserweight but why limit it to three choices based on your comment? I'd throw out ALL the rest! Multiple boxing bodies have ruined out precious sport. "Oh gee, now I can gain three f*****g pounds and get 'recognized' as a champ by one of five 'ruling bodies' none of which have an agreeable 'top 10' for pete sakes! Money, money, money! Outside of the occasional 'big fight' I've blown off boxing, sadly, completely. Taking all the 'ruling bodies' into consideration, we now have 40-50 'top ten contenders'!!! Several years ago I'd have never thought the UFC "kick em'! Wrap yourselves on the floor and kick and punch while the ref watches this nonsense!?!?" would, somehow grab the public's support and attention? I'm out, this has become a total joke!!! My $0.02
