He could have said "Shout out to Osama, R.I.P my ninja" and people wouldn't have been any more/less salty about tonight's outcome.

Nevermind that Ortiz set the tone for the low brow shenanigans.

Nevermind that Mayweather retaliated within the rules. Unsavory? yes. Illegal? highly debatable. Official ruled "no".

To be 100% honest, he did Ortiz's career a HUGE favor. Ortiz was not going to win this fight. Mayweather's right was already finding it's target too regularly for that to happen. The outcome was inevitable: Win for Floyd. Because of the way Floyd won, Ortiz saved himself the trouble of being thoroughly outclassed. People will remember a close fight with a controversial ending. This means Ortiz gets his loss and loses ZERO credibility. If anything, his profile is raised by the droves of people that will dwell on "what if?"

Crappy outcome, but really don't blame it all on Floyd. Perhaps Ortiz should have watched Gatti-Mayweather more (learn to keep your hands up on the break) instead of dwelling on the inconsequential Hatton/elbow non-issue. Ortiz is still young: live and learn.

Fight wasn't close and most fans will just remember how stupid and gay Victor Ortiz was.

You underestimate how much people hate Mayweather. This is going to turn into "Ortiz was winning and Floyd bailed out of the fight with cheap shots". Watch.

We have people on this forum that say De la Hoya beat Floyd - and they're 100% serious.

Somewhere, soon Oscar & Floyd will put their promoter hats on and sit & laugh at the "controversy" while counting their money.

    ALL publicity is good publicity.

Both fighters were unethical. Ortiz started it and Mayweather ended it. All we saw was Mayweather being better at it.

    For peace of mind:

    and so it begins: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=343520

If anything, Ortiz just successfully auditioned for role of "potential Pacquiao opponent".

    :think:think:think

I have read a lot stuff saying that the way Mayweather ended the fight was disgraceful, cheap or low road. I haven't really seen anybody argue that what the Pretty One was CHEATING...

So I think you whole premise is totally wrong... you should take "fair" out of the title post... hahaha :smoke

I was quite disgusted when Floyd did this to Gatti in the first rd but in this case, after such a blatant, deliberate headbutt, Mayweather had every right to do it. Ortiz was probably looking for a way out of the fight Golota-style anyway.
