He won some and lost some by Split or Majority Decision. At his best he was a durable guy with a decent right hand who beat his share of names and lost competively to some very good names. Where would he place today?
Snipes might be a contender, but more towards the lower half of any top 10 rankings, no more imo. He wouldn't beat the best if he got a title shot.
Oh I think he could beat anyone around today. Key word could. One clean shot and Wilder is out. Joshua's chin is unreliable as well tends to slow down in the later rounds. Snipes was tough and will make you work. If Fury comes in fat, and thinks Snipes is a tier two Euro heavyweight, he's in for a tough night.
your fantasy got no limits my friend Wilder destroys him in his worst night Joshua destroys him in his worst night Fury schools him with a hand in back I doubt tha the could beat ruiz, usyk etc
"Could beat anyone around today". Yes, anything is a possibility. I'd give Renaldo some chance, but would Snipes likely beat the best guys such as Fury, Joshua or Wilder? No, not in my opinion. They have to take Snipes seriously, of course. I'm presuming Fury comes in sharp and prepared, he's too big and talented and should win a decision at least. Joshua should be too good in the end, though Renaldo can make him work for it. I think Wilder probably stops Snipes mid rounds. Snipes in his own day lost to most of the best men he met, though he was durable so he usually went the distance. His best win might be against Coetzee in '81, but he was dropped a couple of times in that one, iirc and was quite lucky to win the decision. He beat Berbick on points. Most of Snipes' bigger matches went to points and he had mixed results. I think Renaldo might be a contender today, but doubt he'd beat Fury, Joshua or Wilder if they're in their best form. I'd pick all of them over Snipes.
I think Snipes would do ok except for at the highest levels. He was very game, hit pretty hard and seemed to be well conditioned. I reckon he works over the fatasses of the division. That said, any decent boxer with size probably handles him.
I think Renaldo Snipes was the type of fighter who was pretty much made for fringe in any era. Yes he had an impressive build and a strong fighting heart with reasonable durability. But he wasn’t exceptionally skilled nor particularly gifted in the punching department. Furthermore, in any top 10 over the past twenty years he’d be relatively small by comparison to the more recent combatants.
