Snipes forced to call Rocky "Mr Marciano" after brutal beatdown.

What about my mother versus Marciano? She's 6'3" and 245lbs, although it was 6'4" before she had me.

To be fair I posted a simple no above but it does warrant a deeper look.

Yes, Holmes was basically using this as a tune up keep sharp type of fight. He was awaiting the mega fight with Cooney that had been dragging on for a year.

No Snipes probably didn’t deserve a shot at the belt based on a win over Coetzee and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad. Vegas certainly didn’t take him seriously and refused to even establish a betting line.

However once in the ring he gave Larry a huge test. Taking and giving huge shots along the way. This remains one of my favorite HW fights. He has Larry in big trouble dropping him with 2 minutes in the round to go. Larry gives a very good account of his resilience hanging on and turning the tables later on.

With hindsight we can see that if Snipes can trouble frustrate and drop Holmes, that Rocky is going to have his hands full. But placing him here as the snipes going into the fight very few would see snipes troubling him.

However we do have the benefit of hindsight. Snipes would give Rocky all sorts of fits and make him look very poor for periods as he did Holmes. For 6-8 rounds this could be a huge slugfest. Rocky can get dropped a time or 2 IMO. If he sustains a cut of any sort it may not have a good outcome for him. I do think from 9-12 Rock would apply some heavy pressure to a slowing unproven Snipes, who could not IMO be prepared for late round championship level endurance.

To me Rocky would win but it is not out of the question that Snipes could pull this out and or make rocky look poorly at times. But to me Rocky stops him in double digit rounds after punishing him for the final 2-3 rounds.

And Marciano wouldn't? The Rock absorbed a lot of shots in almost all of his fights, regardless of the level of competition.

He got hit, but he didnt get damaged.

"It was hard to tell if Rocky was ever in trouble, because hitting him was like hitting a stone wall. If he was ever hurt, he didn't show it." -Ruby Goldstein

Not to mention there were some he straightup battered without getting hit that often like lastarza, layne, walcott's second fight, bill wilson, Gino Buonvino 2, Harry kid Matthews, etc

The difference here is that Seamus is no tainted spectacle wearer, who is unaware of Rocky never fighting any modern 217 athletic heavyweights. His resume is 2-0 in that department, I repeat: TWO wins! Shkor and Wilson. Hurra!

Yet folks here believe 180-powderpuff Charles and "The Ghost of Joe Louis" could give Rocky a rumble, but a 215-220 athletic Snipes couldn´t.

The same hero fappers who cry if you put LaMotta, Hagler or Duran against against Quawi, De Leon, Ocasio or Spinks.

Pretty much this Snipes would give Rocky a decent fight and may have his moments but he's gonna get beaten up and stopped.

You sir are also extremely biased against Holmes as are a few others here so what's the difference.

Perhaps you are not aware that Snipes himself lost to cruiser Orlin Norris, lost to cruiser Ricky Parkey, and got only a split with LHW Eddie Mustafa Muhhamed?

I am sorry, but Snipes is not on Marciano's level. Don't worry about the weight. He hit Holmes with a good but lucky punch. That is all. You have to understand that a guy who punched with bone-breaking power and could throw 100 punches in the 15th round of a fight is going to trouble any man in front of him, period.
