He nearly decapiteted Larry Holmes and was just 4 seconds away from being champ. Whatever happened to him?

This isn't a mocking post to tell you to just google, but if you seriously google "Renaldo Snipes where are they now" the first thing that pops up is a recent interview with him. Hope this helps.

    to give a genaric summary,

Renaldo's career basically declined after the Holmes fight. He wound up losing to string of contenders, and eventually became more or less a build up guy for younger prospects.

A fight with a guy like Weaver, and he would've been on the top.

Renaldo was an overachiever.Gerry Cooney was around at the same time, and if Renaldo had the breaks and the good promotion and management of Cooney, he may have been champ.Snipes was a bit raw skill wise, but had power, hand and foot speed, and balls.

Snipes really didn't have the power or skills that Cooney possesed. Although I'll agree that he probably had the potential to go a little further than he actually did. I also don't know if I agree that having better promotion would have taken his career to greater heights. Remember, he was given numerous opportunities against top rated contenders, and capatilized on very few. The Berbick victory was a good one, but the losses to Ricky Parkey, Greg page, Tim Witherspoon, Tyrell Biggs and a draw with Scott Frank showed us that he wasn't world class material. He also was gifted a decision against Gerrie Coetzee which was possibly the worst robbery of the 80's.

Renaldo, if he won the right fights, would have definitely been a champ somewhere down the line. But after the loss to Greg Page, it went downhill from there.
