When did £80,000 become a small amount of money? Even after tax, he'll have about £40,000 - that's a big chunk of a mortgage straight-off.

It's not Amir Khan money, but even he's only getting in the £1m mark. Nowhere near the Hattons and Calzaghes of the world in their time. And not even near what Haye makes.

Less manager, less trainer (off the top figure).

Just saying that these guys at this level do have to have an eye on having a "proper" job and that Munroe being binman isn't just a PR job.

80,000 is a good payday for Munroe. Just getting a shot at the title was great for the lad.

Not that bad for a guy thats not even full-time in the sport. It's a nice little earner and he'll be out a few times next year as well. By the time his career is up he'll have probably more or less bought a house off the sport while retaining an everyday job, so I don't think he'll be complaining that much. People are only surprised its low because all we tend to hear about is negotiations for marquee fighters. For a little man earning his way in the game its a different world.

He'll still have a decent few paydays coming if he's still up for it. There's loads of prospects coming through in the division that would love a crack at a contender like Munroe, who'll have only increased his standing with this shot. Plus if he comes back with a win or two, another shot at a title shot isn't out of the question.

I also read that Rendall has made six figures from being European champion so that coupled with the pay day from this fight should set him up nice and comfy for a while. Incidentally I also read (did a lot of reading today) that Rendall's amateur record was 30-10 and needed financial support from friends and family early on in his career, that in itself shows how far hard work and perseverance can get you in the fight game.

That's good planning. I'm sure the Boxing fees will make for a tidy retirement fund.

He does work the bins, I have spoke to him on his routes. Boxing isn't all private jets and choosing your next fight. I hope he can get a world title and earnenough to settle down with.
