Whats your opinions on The Binman? I myself from what Ive seen of him think hes over-rated by the British Boxing public. I say this because (altough I consider him a decent European standard) I dont ever seeing him being a World Champion. Dont get me wrong, I did see him in action against Martinez and taught he put in a perfect performance on the night, but i.m.o Martinez is a limited fighter and Monroe just had to be diciplined on the night to beat him (easier said than do I realise). Ive seen him in action since tho, and hes been less than impressive for me Maybe Im not seeing the big picture here. Im looking forward to seeing him in action in Dublin, maybe that will change my opinion, or maybe you lads can set me straight. Id like to see him in action against Bernard Dunne aswell (another decent European standard boxer)
I really like Munroe but i don't think he's World level, he's a very good European level fighter though and thats not to be sniffed at most people would love to be at that level! I hope he proves me wrong though. I'd pick him to pip it against Dunne too.
Hes a good fighter maybe shy of world class Part of the problem is hes not full time. I think if he dropped the bins for a few years he could go places but maybe throu confidence of wanting to be finacially secure he still works a full time job. He seems to be a saftey first fighter - if in doubt jab ( no bad thing really) and considering his size he doesnt seem to generate much power. Hes stagnating a little maybe at the moment. Could be a pivitol stage in caeer. Either go full time and see how far he gets or stick at this level for a few years
From what I've heard though the bins dont prove much of a problem (he gets days off easily, gets time off before fights etc) and he keeps himself fit doing the bins. I know what you mean though maybe he needs to fully concentrate his efforts on boxing. He's got some skills but sometimes holds back a little I think. He's on Sky Dec 18th so will be nice to see how he handles his first defence
I really like Munroe but he is a European level fighter in a division that is short of talent in Europe. I think he is still quite early in his career and needs at least 10 good fights before he goes to world level. He is still learning the fight game and should not be pushed yet. I would like to see him fight Dunne in the middle of next year.
I can't remember anyone blowing smoke up the lads arse...I think everyone has been very realistic indeed about his chances above Euro level.
:rofl Thanks for the ol feedback there lads, it was my first thread that I started here and its good see some legitimate points made as opposed to forum trolls. I take on board your point there about Rendall not being full time, and maybe that is a factor as to why hes not performing at a higher standard, or else like Dunne hes just a decent european standard, I suppose the "british boxing public" I referred to is really only the Sky Sports crew. Anyway Im sure you would all agree Monroe v Dunne for the Euro title is the pick of the european bunch at the moment
lol , that may have been true 6 months ago but things have changed. Monshipour aka 'the man' when it comes to European Super-Bantamweights is back, as is Michael Hunter. Simeone Maludrottu has moved up to Super-Bantamweight aswell and young Hungarian Zsolt Bedak is coming through aswell. In no order: Rendall Munroe, Bernard Dunne, Mayhar Monshipour, Kiko Martinez, Michael Hunter, Simeone Maludrottu and that's all before you drop to the level of Matthew Marsh, Zsolt Bedak and Jeremy Parodi(who's probably okay because he beat Munroe's last mandatory clearly on points). Martin Power has is returning aswell and at Super-Bantamweight so now is there not only an elite tier of Super-Bantamweights(the names mentioned above this paragraph), but also a strong second tier meaning that whoever the European champion is they shouldn't step down anywhere near to the likes of Fabrizio Trotta again. As for how good is Munroe, well I thought he was very good at European level but definitely short at World level. Now I think he's okay as European champion(a bit weak) and nowhere near World level. How a European champion can struggle so badly with a fighter as bad as Matirosian boggles the mind. and if he's worried about his future I'm sure £60,000 would allow him to take time of from the bins for quite a while. I'm going to the show on the 18th and I'll be eager to get a look at Hunter, and Martinez aswell(actually the whole show is fantastic) and assess their performances. Martin Power v Gary Davies is on the undercard and so is Paul Hyland v Eugene Heagney so anyone going will actually get to see 4 Super-Bantamweight fights.
I watched that fight and Munroe was decent but it showed how average Martinez is also and probably what Dunne would have done to him if he had a chin Munroe is European level at best, he is slick enough, southpaw so will cause problems but doesnt have that spark to bring him to the top of a good division. He should win against Trotta however
From that list, id rate the Europeans as follows Mayhar Monshipour, Bernard Dunne, Rendall Munroe, Kiko Martinez,Simeone Maludrottu, Michael Hunter, Matt Marsh
Is Monshipur likely to bother his bollocks with the EBU though? Last I saw of him was that ******* against Somsak Sikswhatsihisface. I'd be surprised if the EBU appeals to him. I'd say he fancies a pop at a world strap. It is a good division though. When Dunne goes up to world level and (in all likelihood) loses I think we will see a great series of fights at SBW in Europe. Munroe doesn't even seem to have the ambition to take the step up to spin the wheel at world level. Dunne - Munroe. Dunne - Hunter. Hunter - Munroe. Maladrottu - Hunter. Maladrottu - Martinez. etc.. etc... Could keep people from this part of the world entertained for a couple of years. World level is beyond any of those lads though I feel. That Juanma is a madman. Imagine him in with any of those boys Maybe when Vasquez, Marquez and Cabellero retire and Juanma moves up there would be an opening (if any of that happens) However, there would still be De Leon, Cordoba, Gonzalez and a few more around. Its a tough, tough division. By the way am I the only one who thinks Marsh is a bit rubbish?
