Prior to Friday's win over Martinez..... Maloney was on boxing hour talking about the next few fights for Munroe.

After another couple of defences, he said he was looking to put him in with a contender/top 10 guy to see where he is at presently.

If you were him, would you be tempted to give Richard Schaefer a call and try to put him on the Hatton vs Pacquiao undercard against Rey Bautista?

If Munroe is going to get a shot at a title, better still to win one, these are the kind of guys he is going to need to beat in order to do so.

I see Bautista as beatable, he was stopped in one by the ordinary Ponce De Leon, and was stood on his head back in November on the undercard of Hatton vs Paulie.

    Thoughts?

I think Maloney is 100% correct with that path. Defences first.

He's gonna have to fight Maludrottu soon enough as a mandatory.

    Monshipour.

    Matthew Marsh.

Sidorenko would be an excellent test, he had good fights with Cordoba.

    Then Dunne/Cordoba

That would be the route I would take. Certainly no ambitious world title attempts within his next 5. Only if he comes through good tests would I put him in with Dunne/Cordoba. He hasn't fought enough quality opposition with a range of styles. We've only seen him beat a crude puncher.

Yup I reckon Simone maludrottu will be next on the agenda which will be a good defence .... Maludrottu is a bantamweight moving up and rendall should have too much for him .... One fight I would like to see is Michael Hunter at a domestic level then moving onto possibly Cordobra or Pounce de leon would be interesting fights ... then bring on Juan manual Lopez next !! ....eeerrrr maybe ......

I agree with Maloney. Give him a few defences for experience then see where he is v a top 10. No need to guess now. See who a top 10 is in 9 months.

I think defences would be a good idea, but Bautista wouldn't be a bad fight to make right now IMO.

It would certainly raise his profile a lot more over in the states.

think its one of the best routes in ages for a british boxer. too many times we have seem them move up straight away and get knocked out. a few more defenses learn abit more then move on.

    finally were not rushing someone

He's only had 19 fights. It's not as if it would be normal for a fighter to be fighting for a world title at this stage, except for exceptional talents of course.

Just as long as he doesn't fight bums and keeps developing that is the right progression. The European belt is a blessing for him as it should present a steady stream of good competition.

Its a tough division for sure it'll be tough for him to win a title there he's better off gaining experience defending the EBU

I doubt Maludrottu will be next, Munroe won't have to fight him for another 9 months.

I think we'll get Mora or Walstad next followed by Mark Moran(if he can cause the upset against Marsh)and then Maludrottu.

    After that ???

Zsolt Bedak would be a good fight but this Hungarian lads a decent fighter .... think Munroe would have his number but could be awkward ....

Munroe will win a world title just a matter of sitting tight enjoy the ride and wait for the right opportunity ! ....

not Mike the machine Oliver !! - hes been Ko'd in his last two fights but still on the scene .... he fought Escalante the mexican last time up who is decent and lost by TKO in the 3rd .... think that was for one of those American belts but not sure which one
