I just hope he doesn't fight Froch, Hopkins, Dawson or even Johnson would be great but Froch doesn't deserve to be in the ring with Calzaghe for his last fight and its nowhere near as commercially appealing on a world level compared to Hopkins or Dawson.
I think the favourite has to be Dawson at the moment as HBO are backing that.

    My preferences in order:

    (1) Dawson
    (2) Johnson
    (3) Hopkins II
    (4) Froch (if he gets past Pascal)

Good points. The live gate at Cardiff should be huge. I think the only reason Hopkins is being brought up at all is because of his high visibility, particularly after the Pavlik fight when he showed he still 'has it.'

My guess is that Hopkins is being used as a negotiating chip to help raise the guaranteed payout for Calz when he decides to fight either Dawson or Froch. I guess we'll find out.

One other point -- Hopkins' and Froch's names may be being brought up by Calz in order to get a better purse split with Dawson. In other words, to help drive Chad's price down.

Fighting Froch would be a huge letdown. But I don't think that's what's going to happen.

Anyone but Froch, he does nothing for him at this point. Hopefully from Taylor,Dawson or Hopkins and hopefully not from Johnson,Tarver or Winky.

i wonder what people would rate calzaghe if he wer to beat all 3 of these fighters and another maybe kessler again or johnson or tarver and take his tally to 50 - 0. surely he would have to go down as one of the best if not the best fighter of last 20 years after unifying the division, his resume would be looking a hell of alot better.

Apparently nobody watched his PPV so that's debatable.

A rematch with Hopkins is intriguing now that Bernard is talking about being more open. Calzaghe is gutsy and can be drawn into a war..so a close quarters brawl between Joe and B-Hop could be pretty fun.

I seriously cant see anyone out there who i would pick as having a real chance against Calzaghe.

Dawson is the guy who should be fighting Joe next, if Joe seriously is going to carry on fighting.

I remember JC saying before he fought Hopkins that a big fight in a US casino was the one thing missing from his career. ......he's never really had a long standing rival either, like Eubank-Benn, Ali-Frazer etc,. so, imo Hopkins II might be best for his legacy......Dawson I see more as the next generation, don't see it harming either's legacy if they dont fight any more than JC and Nigel Benn not fighting harmed either of theirs........Also think Dawson is still a bit green and B-Hop is a better match up.
