Man just let it go already. You have your agenda and you want all this gossip to be true so go ahead and believe what you want. Ignore the eye test and go with these propaganda stories if that makes u feel better. No sweat off my back. Didnt Ali say what great shape he was in be4 Holmes and his camp was putting out all kind of stories about him. Reality hit fight night. That's just one example of the pre fight BS

First off you lie. Barely any punches are landed by anyone in rd 8. I just watched it. Beating Duran up? Lmfao not in rd 8. I challenge all posters to watch rd 8 and see what a joke pernell is. Great body punches in rd 8 by Leonard? What the 2 after Duran quit? Leonard circles constantly but doesnt punch.

As for no great fighters at lightweight; that statement just shows yr lack of knowledge of the fighters of the era and yr presumptions of mediocrity. You either know NOTHING about those fighters or cannot judge talent.

Finally, Duran weighed 135 yrs before HAGLER BECAUSE HE IS SO MUCH OLDER AND HAGLER WAS A KID SO DOES THAT MEAN HAGLER ROSE IN WEIGHT TO FIGHT HIM?
You have turned yourself into a fool with yr Duran derangement syndrome and lost credibilty entirely. Leonard couldn't hurt Duran if they fought 100 fights. But bottom line is hd to hd the first match just like Frazier vs Ali, Duran kicked Leonards ass with ease. He won I thought 11 rds and after the fight was done with fighting.

He had been Lightweight Champion 7 yrs, settled forever his rivalry with his penultimate opponent Esteban DeJesus (crying in the ring after the victory because it meant soooo much to him), moved up beat the former popular champ in Palomino, then beat America's golden boy Leonard easily as he said he would. "Alexander wept when he saw there were no more worlds to conquer." Duran had done it all and was at the top of the mountain pd for pd for yrs. He was a national hero in Panama and was treated as Caesar returning to Rome. Now began the bacchanala partying and just living a hedonistic carefree devil may care life. A wild animal was finally free and clear from fighting and it was time to hunt and gorge....
    On everything.

ays remember Duran was he thought at the end of a career while Leo Tommy and Marv were really just beginning their glory yrs. Durans hunger for boxing fame was satiated and would remain that way forever. He never again looked or fought the savage style of the pre June 21, 1980 Duran.

It's not gossip--it's reporting. I know that you've been reading and hearing about the myths for so long that you probably think they're obvious now, but they're not. You should keep an open mind and reevaluate the evidence some time. That's my only agenda, and the reason I took the time to find these articles and create these threads.

You forget that we lived through this time. Durans whole reign at lightweight and up thru the leonard fights read all the stuff then saw Duran fat at the HolmesAli fight. Knew all about his use of diaretics to lose weight and his utter disdain for the fight. WE LIVED IT! Not just reading tales or guessing like for instance LOUIS-Schmeling. We are of that time. Like you are of Pac/Mayweather time. No one needs to tell you about it or the build up. You were there to read and see for yrself. Same with us on this subject. You and Pernell continuously, and you a lot less so I must say, putting down Duran and his preMontreal opponents when we saw them repeatedly and their skill is foolish at best. Presumptious for sure.

Ray was jabbing to the body then the head and starting to land right hands and he landed a few hard ones, and that is when Duran quit. Yes watch round 8 and see if what I say is the truth. Duran quit when Ray was landing body punches and in range. And Duran had been wanting to engage when Ray stepped in. Who is lying. The proof is there. Who landed hard rights right before Duran quit?

Duran did not fight the legends Hearns,Leonard and Hagler did in his prime. And I think he was still good in June of 1980.. and Nov. He was 29.. The excuses are ridiculous. Manny Pacman moved up more and beat more fighters. And when he was older. Floyd beat Manny when Floyd was 38.. Duran was 32 when Hearns beat him.

And moron calling me an idiot. You follow the general opinion like most people, but cannot be original. Think for yourself. Showing us a beating of Davey Moore is more what you guys will do but does not show us much. I don't think Duran beat up Ray. This is a beating. A guy being knocked cold in two rounds.

That is not a beating. It is a blowout knockout. You prove my point. You really don't know the sport.

That is beating. I guess I don't know the sport. Have even seen the postfight interview or seen the left side of Duran's face. Are you here just to excuse Duran? He lacks wins over greats fighters. Where is the beating you are talking about. Sheep follow sheep.
