Boxing beat writer and podcaster Steve Kim follows in the footsteps of fellow Cali boxing writer Michael Montero (ripped NSAC head over GGG vs Canelo judges cards on camera) in his grilling of those with power in boxing, this time being Eddie Hearn. Kim the newest "heated reporter" gives Hearn a hard time in the post fight press conference about Quigg not only missing weight by 3 pounds, but then refuses the next day weigh-in. He doesn't really let Hearn off the hook here, but Hearn does his best to side step, here is the vid.

(I did a search and didn't find anything about this yet.)

I think Kim went after the wrong guy here, and should have questioned the CSAC about why they allowed Quigg to act so unprofessional. Hearn is just the promoter of Quigg, but not of this show and has nothing to do with Quigg's camp or training for the fight. What do you guys think?

Absolutely agree with you. Hearn is not the guy that has to control all of the fighters that he promotes. It doesn't matter if it's Quigg or Joshua or whatever... I feel like some people don't understand that... Don King's era is almost over.

Found that cringey for the reporters sake, he was clearly trying to be some tough guy and it came off completely stupid. Hearn isnt the one who trains Quigg or in charge of his nutrition etc. He's attacking the wrong guy.

It is all real frustrating and i hate people missing their weights but Quigg looked genuinly devestated and wasnt there for the money he was there for the belt which he blew before the fight even started. But it is still unprofessional and bad. But grilling Hearn, Hearn is a promoter at a moment like that it is his job to deflect as much negativity from his fighter as possible considering his fighter and the team have nobody to blame bu themselves, we were never guna get him calling Quigg a scumbag and that he is guna cease to promote him.

It wasn't about grilling Quigg, it was more about grilling Eddie and demanding that he stay consistent. But the issue with this is, a promoter will always defend his fighter, and complain about the opposition, if the opposition is unprofessional. It's just how life works.

I think 'side step' is the wrong word. I think Hearn is genuinely baffled by this guy's weird stupidity.

Comes across as a proper r'****.

He should have gone after CSAC not Hearn.
    They sanctioned this fight.

You are correct, but the thing to that is, a.) Kim is Cali based and is one of the bigger name reporters in Cali., so going after the local commission might get him into hot water there like Montero got in with Vegas & Golden Boy. b.) Kim is a Golden Boy employee, so might be taking a shot at casting some negative pub on a Top Rank card.

Shouldn't we be blaming Quigg and Freddie Roach?

What good would going after the CSAC, NSAC or any other state commission be?? They run boxing & they are also where the corruption stems from. They do as they like. All they care about $$$$$$$$

Eddie handled that well. Frank Warren would have had Steve Kim shot by some East End gangland connects. Fat Mick Hennessy would have said “I’m not being funny here but what the **** is going on” and then slapped the **** out of Kim.

Steve Kim "let's go after the charming British guy who speaks to well. Maybe these Brits aren't as clever as we think they are"

....Then gets put in his place soon after.

    Hearn is no idiot.

    Lmaooo.

I don't know what Steve was trying to achieve. Probably just trying to self-promote. Like I don't get how he's going to get mad at Eddie for defending his fighter, and then expecting him to hold that same standard if an opposing promotion comes in overweight. Of course Eddie will criticize it then and try and get a second weigh-in. That's his job.

Now you know why Hollywood loves to cast Brits in leading roles. Hearn is devilishly handsome, suave, sophisticated, has a knowing twinkle in the eye and is blessed with the gift of the gab and a great sense of humour. These guys are just not used to dealing with someone as well bred and urbane as that because they just don't breed them like that anywhere else in the world other than in the UK, and specifically in Blightly.
