But if Matthysse loses to Pauile doesnt that hurt him more?? Losing to Thurman or beating Thurman puts matthysse right back to the top or he can go back down to 140 in a sort of a win win situation

Sure, but Matthysse would be the overwhelming favorite in that fight, and if he can't beat Paulie, then GBP would have limited use for him anyway, and from their perspective, it's better that they find that out now before they invest big push money in him.

GBP look like they are banking on a few fighters for the future: Thurman, Garcia, and Canelo. I think they're still torn on Matthysse and want to see if they can build him into a Sergio Martinez-like figure. They're going to spend 2014 testing his ceiling against people like Paulie, Guerrero, Alexander II and Berto. I can see Thurman fighting those opponents this year as well. I don't think he's ever going to get the Floyd fight. More than likely, he's going to move to 154 and establish a reign there, ESPECIALLY if Cotto beats Martinez for the middleweight title and Canelo moves up to challenge Cotto.

Porter, I think, caught GBP off-guard with the Alexander performance and they may be more willing to give him the hardest matches of the bunch to see what exactly they're working with. I can see them making a Porter-Thurman fight IF Thurman completely destroys Collazo. I can also see him getting Khan, Broner, or Maidana after he loses to Floyd. If he wins against opponents like that, they will have discovered a gem and a great final opponent vs. Garcia for the right to fight Floyd. If he loses, that's OK - they haven't invested much in him anyway.

Khan and Broner are still wildcards, but GBP are going to be more willing to put them up against riskier bets now that their stock has fallen so far. My bet is that they end up fighting each other in the near future. Winner stays on the gravy train.

    cinco de mayo weekend.

messicans buy ppv fights if there's some messican fighting.

floyd wearing sombrero and red, white and green ain't going to do it anymore.

they shouls consider canelo or morales or mares.....

Matthyse vs Thurman would be awesome. 50-50 fight for me. It would be interesting to see how much of Lucas' power would go up with him to 147 lbs.

the same way he shattered garcia?

thurman can do all the things danny did...plus he's a bigger guy with more punching power. matthysse hasn't changed much at all since his losses to judah and alexander. i can't see him changing much after his loss to danny either. if anything...that fight took something out of matthysse. the fear factor won't work for him against thurman.

Matthysse doesnt have much defense, he will get hit at will with a solid boxer puncher in Thurman

Matthysse wont be an overwhelming favorite in that fight. hes the fighter coming up off a loss when pauile just won his fight against Judan and a close fight with Broner. Pauile is the better boxer. very slight favorite for Matthysse just cause of power, no KO he will lose to Pauile

Im saying matthysse... But because its at 147... It makes it closer because we dont know if matthysse is going to be as powerful at 147.

When maidana first went upto 147 he was rubbish.... Even Alexander made him look like **** let alone a fat old morales.

    - What has colour to do with it gdm?

On the topic at hand, this is a solid fight. Matthyse is a much aggressor than anything Thurman has seen. I just have feeling that Garcia laid down a blueprint that Thurman could follow, and Thurman hits harder than Garcia. At this point I'd probably go with Thurman UD12.
