I remember his fight and defeat to Bugner, which I thought he won btw, he accepted it with good grace and with dignity.

a true gentleman and I will never forget his comments in the lead up to Benn-Eubank II

 

Met him briefly few years ago, really nice man and a gent. He was seconds away from stopping Ali, held a stronghold domestically and got a knighthood. Only smiles we should give on this, a genuine BRITISH BOXING LEGEND!!

Just seen this now, Rest In Peace - a great legend of British boxing who was well liked by all.

Apologies if this is the wrong thread but the BBC report says "former English, Commonwealth and European heavyweight champion". It's British!!! And he won the Lonsdale belt outright 3 times - can't mess with that.

 

R.I.P. Henry Cooper - shocked and saddened by this news. The moment he put down Ali or Clay as he was will live forever!
