To clarify, i suspect Khan thinks/thought Sir Cooper was a world champ, easy mistake when talkiking of a household name when your only 23? years old. Lets not bring Khan into it, i merely meant Cooper was an anti racist when that point of view took balls to express for a popular white man.

Loved by all, respected by all, RIP Sir 'Enry Cooper.

Sad news. It's a testament to his character and popularity that he remained in the public eye 40 years after he retired from the ring.
    A British boxing icon.

Totally agree with you there. I am a lot older than Khan I can remember as a kid making the mistake in assuming that Cooper that had beat Ali as all I knew at the time were the clips of Cooper flooring Ali (because I was too young at the time to watch that fight).:good

I can't over-emphasize how good Sir Henry Cooper was for the image of boxing. EVERYBODY knew and respected him, he took the sport to places it wouldn't have gone to in this country. Some people who hated the sport, when they heard of and met Henry took a different view.

Quoted for truth. My Auntie, who effectively was a grandma, 6 stone soaking wet, would regale me with tales of our 'Enry giving Ali hell! 30 years later he was still on the box with millions watching and listening in earnest:D Top man

RIP to a legend, a nice guy and a very good boxer. He lost his wife and brother in the last two years, people close say he never got over either
