We all hope that PBF will go ahead and make this fight happen....It is a must for Boxing that the best two WW alive today, get it on as soon as possible....

Interesting enought Cotto is keeping himself busy, very busy, with a number of fights schedule for 2008 already...while PBF is claiming he needs RR....

A few intersting points on this fight:

    1. Jab vs. Speed: We all know that the jab is the best neutralizer of speed, and Cotto has one of the best quick jabs in the business with power. All of Cotto's opponents have said that Cotto speed is far better than what they expected...the power is well know but his speed is often underestimated.

PBF speed is well know, it is his power that often is under estimated....the points is that PBF will not be the stronger man on this fight...against Hatton he was able to use his streght to move Hatton around, I can't see PBF moving HAtton around.

    2. The natural lefty: Cotto is a natural southpaw, and has the ability to turn around and become effective. He did it at times against SSM, and Judah succesful on both. PBF has not fought that many lefties , and you have to go back to his early fights that he showed problems with lefties, and eventually his class over this lesser oppopnents took him to victory. Cotto is not a lesser opponent but a World Class boxer , just like PBF....

    3. Heart: All of us that has follwoed Cotto from the beginning we all know that Cotto has a huge heart, a huge heart...who can forget his valiant effort against Chop Chop and Torres, chalking impressive wins by KO from almost dissaters...PBF, never had any issues like that other than Chop Chop, who never knew how bad he had PBF hurt, and JLC who tested PBF will like any other fight before or since, and he pass with flying colors...yet it was not the type of transcendental experience that Cotto v. Torres was...

    4. THe Body shots: again PBF the underated body puncher, and he is a great body puncher, but not to the extrme of Cotto's leverage, and iot seems that nothing detract from Cottos incredible leverage, not even speed....

I hope this fight happens and happens soon...we all wanted and we all needed.....

Their about even when it comes to body punching. Floyd's body punching is to underrated he's very accurate with them and he makes them count its a beautiful thing to watch.

I still don't think Cotto is ready for Floyd...he fought a draw with a 36 year old Shane Mosely (I know Cotto won) i think Floyd is to fast and to accurate for Cotto and i can actually see him fustrating Cotto on route to a unamious desicion Miguel is just to slow and to predictable

    You meant to say: "Cotto".

Your analysis should include a few more line items, including but not limited to:

    (1) Cotto leaves himself wide open for the counter right whenever he's on the attack (see the Judah's fight though Judah didn't fully take advantage of Cotto's weakness);

    (2) Coincidentally, the counter right is Mayweather's best weapon.

    (3) Mayweather's too elusive therefore I doubt Cotto would be able to land the jab the way he did against Mosley.

    Mayweather by UD.

Cotto's Defense + Floyd's Straight Right = anohter top fighter bitting the dust!

LOL...but to be serious...Cotto is a great fighter. However, the fact that he closes Slow will allow a slow pace and invoke a boxing match. Cotto will definitely try and insert his jab and i think Floyd will counter him often causing Cotto to switch up which he is most capable of but he simply wont be able to close fast enough to force Floyd anywhere...Like every fight though Floyd will allow you to come in close either on the ropes or he will duck in the middle of the ring and come up in your chest...that is where Cotto will have to show Floyd he cant handle him in there....if not then Floyd will start firing solid body shots which will make Cotto think about it and cause him loosen that D up even moreso then it already is. Floyd will then fire a couple body head combos...First 6 rounds may alternate but then i think as always stamina will kcik in and Floyd steps up crazy like with his accuracy and aggression using a wide variety of punches which will keep Cotto off balance....i see this fight ending only in a TKO it wont see 12 rounds......either Cotto catches Floyd or Floyd just overwhelms him with accuracy combined with lack of defense(cotto) and produces a late TKO....the latter of the two is the best choice in my opinion.

...well according to you Cotto should roll over and die....sorry mate it won;t happen...

A few flaws on your analysis:

    1. Cotto is not Hatton:

-Speed, Size and strenght: Whenn it comes to the
three "S" Cotto is faster, stronger and biggers than
    Hatton.
-Defence as moving inside: Cotto is open for the
overhead right hand, but it usually lands on top
of Cotto's head...he can handle it, now he will not be
hit as easy as Hatton did with 3 or 4 head snapping
shots like Hatton did, which ultimately was his demise.
-Cotto deliverate approach, as Stewart mentioned on
the SSM fight, seems slow, but is far faster than
opponents expect, this will be an adavantage for Cotto.
-Adjustments: this fight will be a battle of adjustments
Hatton never adjusted, in fact he only had one plan and
one plan only, it was spelled disaster for Hatton, when
everytime he eat numerous combos...Cotto will adjust
and move, might change stands regularly...if anyone
that PBF can possibly TKO Cotto, they are dreaming...
-Hatton was not a real WW, Cotto is a real WW and
then some, he usually steps in as a JRMW on each
fight...this will create problems to PBF..Cotto is not
    the old ODLH either....

nah never said anything about Hatton in the post...thats all you my boy. I dont compare fighters.....

Secondly.....Cott's D man no matter how you cut it...is just not good....be it better or not of Hatton's its just not good at all and it is even magnified with a puncher of accuracy.

Now you say Cotto approaches slow deliberately....thats fine i mean its still the same...a slow closing method and this set ups a boxing match no matter what...Cotto WILL not rush in fast like Hatton and this fight from get will be a boxing match.

Cotto can adjust but LOOK how long it took him to adjust to Mosley...PBF adjusts very fast and gives you different looks every round almost including varying the pace of the fight. Fact is Floyd adjusts in mid fight and while Cotto can adjust i think it takes him longer.

SIZE will not matter for Cotto.....he will not land his great body punches and will be force to be a head hunter which will tire him because he will miss a lot. Floyd's str8 rights wil cause him to keep his head low and his gloves around his head leaving his face open to uppercuts that he is so vulnerable to and Floyd will take advantage of it...and his uppercuts are nasty.

I do not discredit Cotto's victory against Mosley however....if you look at the fight Mosley had no D and walked into all of Cotto's great jabs as Mosley was agressor...secondly Mosley hit Cotto almost at will....Floyd will pin point some lighting shots that will hurt and stun Cotto because lets face it my man...Cotto's chin is not strong....a TKO is very possible due to accumulation of punches....Cotto has be knocked down and wobbled too often for you not to think about that chin bein less than par....his HEART makes up for it yes...but his chin is still weak my friend.....but with a closer and accuracy of Floyd's level......i just dont see him making it 12.

Hatton who, according to you, was supposed to upset Mayweather?

Cotto is not faster than Hatton. He's certainly bigger and stronger but not faster.

I will give you one definitive issue in favor of Cotto, and if yoy don't accpeted, then I will call Miguel and tell him to retire forget it, he is a chump...cool...cool..

Once thing many of you so call boxing experts at ESB miss and miss consistently is the ability of a boxer to understand and control, "effective distance", PBF is good, but at times he is out of range if hyou will, but his speed makes up for it, Cotto, deliverate and slumbering (so Emanule was probably smoking crack suring the SSM fight according to you), is excelelnt controlling "effective distance"...basically he is always in range and rady to fire once he is moving into his opponent, and his speed has always bothered all of his opponents including SSM. The ability of Cotto to control the "effective distance" will be a most....

Again my man...either you dont undersand how good floyd is or you really think what manny says is all world. Im not discrediting Cotto's "effective distance" or whatever.....the fact is it will force the fight into a boxing match. Secondly Mosley and Floyd man....if you are basing his succes off of Mosley fine go ahead it was a great victory but man how Mosley fought and what Floyd will do are night and day and a pace that Cotto allows with that "effective distance" is right up Floyd's alley....i mean it gives Floyd time pick Cotto's D appart or what D he has...yes Cotto is fast but he is nowhere near fast enough for Floyd in terms of reacting counter wise and defensively. If you think Cotto will outbox Floyd....you have another thing comming.

I never mentioned anywhere that I taught that Cotto will outboxed PBF, thatis absurd...I know that ...everyone knows that , what I said and is that the jab is the best equalizer against SPEED and Cotto has a marvelous qick power jab, that if you think it will not give PBF fits, then you are the one that will have another one coming...like I said this will be a fight of adjustments...and I know Cotto will be able to adjust accordingly liike PBF will also...Cotto is battle tested, PBF not so much

why is Cotto more battled tested than Floyd????????????????????? Becaue you get knocked down more or wobbled more doesnt make you more battle tested my friend.

Secondly......i didnt say you said he would outbox him but you keep stating this crazy "effective distance" nonsense which will force this match into a boxing match which to be honest may end up boring because Coto will not apply fast pressure but a slow methodic pressure and floyd well he will be floyd....this will end up being a boxing match regardless and one that Cotto can't win.

As far as that jab.....he used it because thats what Mosley gave him....Mosley stalked Cotto comming in hands low and head high no Defense......in this fight Cotto will stalk all night and that jab will be seen from a mile away.....Cotto is quick but not anything to where Floyd hasn't seen. Mosley fight was a great win but it was a decisive win for him as most having the fight close and some giving it to Mosley......but to me i think that fight could cause some mis perception for Cotto.
