Going for Brit and Euro title, making a few quid because he will always sell tickets.
Maybe when he has done setting up a bit of a business for himself like Tony Sibson.I dont think the lad makes out he is a world beater but at 29 he is far from done.
He lost to 2 blokes who look like they might step up to world level and who both looked on the night a few weight division s up on him.
I dont think Smith has anything to be ashamed of,far from it and who else at Brit level other than Groves and De Gale is going to beat him.Smith maybe needs to look into the weight thing.
I was gutted for him tonight.

    No respect for Smith whatsoever.
After his interview it was great seeing him getting tanked so dramatically. Groves is definitely progressing but id still avoid fastracking him just yet, gotta a feeling he could get stopped also until they refine his low left hand.

  3. Hi, *****.

I may have lost my head regarding smiths class a good 2/3 years ago, but for a long time now I've always said let's take it one step at a time, maybe he can reach euro level.

It is sad to see so many people coming on here calling smith a **** though. The guy got ko'd. It was a proper bingo punch. Both fighters looked good until that happened. More variety in smiths work and excellent jab from groves.

Maybe saying smith to retire is premature, but he does need to sit down and asses things seriously

    Good post.

I thought Groves looked massive at the weigh in and on the night he looked a weight division above Smith. Groves and Degale will kick on so I dont think Smith should consider retiring he still has plenty left in the tank and can win the British Title again once Groves and Degale move on to world level.

smith looked a weight below groves, whoever said he dident earlier get some ****ing glasses:-(
smith needs to move down,he is a good sized middle but a v small supermiddle.

barker and such like are way above smith, there are some decent fights at british level at middle.:good

To be fair Smith gave credit to Groves at the post fight press conference. All 4 fighter Burns, Katsidis, Groves and Smith are class personalities.

Bingo suggests it was a lucky shot or something. That was not luck, groves was looking for that shot from the first round. He used the jab to put smith out of position then banged it in. It was as clinical as I've seen George.

  11. Let me clarify. Not saying he was lucky!

sharing the same city iv paid for and followed paul at a few bouts and I have enjoyed some great fights I never believed he was world class but domesticly he has given good value for money ( like to add he supports a poor footy team)

  13. Let's not forget this has left him at a total cross roads and the poor lads head must be all over the place.
Calling a guy who is in this position because you think he's a bit miserable and called a couple of guys on here wankers (and he was not wrong about a couple if you) is a bit out of line.
Let's not forget he achieved more than any of us have in tge ring

IMO he looked bigger than Groves during the run in. Smith said a lot of things prior to the fight but he was proved wrong about Groves. He know this and will continue to make a living on the domestic scene. I have got nothing against him but did roll my eyes a few years back when people were saying he was on the fringe of being world class. Smith had too many meaningless fights against opposition he could beat easily, that is the problem with him but who is to blame?
