I am surprised by the amount of fight fans that scoff at the lower weights, saying they're the size of children, they'd rather watch women's boxing, etc.

I'll watch & enjoy the smaller fighters anytime. What do y'all watch?

    Because they're not as exciting.

Watching 6ft 4 240lbs dudes scoring brutal KO's is more entertaining than 5ft 4 110lb guys slapping each other.

So I'm guessing you never heard of Naoya Inoue or Chocolatito (little guys with knockout power and can punch like 100 punches a round->elements to make exciting fighters)? Ok, you do you, buddy.

I'm not saying they cannot be good, but it's less likely.

A lot of the appeal of boxing has to do with the fantasy of how skills would be used elsewhere in the boxers life. People want to watch "The Baddest Man On The Planet" because he is that guy in all situations. A 5'4 guy isn't the baddest man when he steps out of the ring and has no context. An average guy could just grab them and hold them down. Also, most people in the western world just aren't that small so it's hard to relate.

Beyond that, power punchers are less common. Each exchange has less at stake. Much less drama. You can't be upset with people for not preferring this.

I can understand that - Heavies, Cruisers, etc. can turn the lights out on their opponents with a single shot - that's exciting to the hardcore and casual. The hardcore fans also love to see beautiful boxing, with a match full of ebbs and flows, a strategic battle full of will & skills.

There's no bullshitting in LHW, CW, or HW. You can't run around and potshot and slap your way to victory. You're going to have to fight. There's just no way around that. You have to fight at that weight.

    Is knockouts nice?

    Knockouts is nice

Look at this puny little leprechaun

Wait, what? He just euthanized his fellow leprechaun in HL reel fashion and I'm pretty sure neither of them are HWs

Another leprechaun who punches like a British HW

But whilst knockouts and leprechauns who punch like giants is nice

No method of victory is as high in value and prestige as a no mass win

To take another man's soul and force a proud warrior who has been fighting all their life to say ''No more, I have no answer, I quit'' through nothing but the application of technical wizardry and sublime skill is the pinnacle of victory

As a fan, I never think about things like "he's so small, I bet someone a lot bigger than him could kick his ass, I'll bet my 6'5" 250 lb. brother could whup him", and so on. These things have nothing whatsoever to do with boxing, in my mind.

True, the displays of crushing power are usually amongst the big guys & I don't condemn anyone for just following Heavies, or whatever.

Well, we all know that you're stuck behind a closet door and it's becoming more and more apparent that you're a size queen as well.
    • You focused on a boxer's package in an avatar pic
    • You created a thread about wanting to go to gay parades o_O
    • You spent time wondering about the size of my dick
Like damn, dude. It's 2022. It's not only safe for you to come out, but there are social benefits waiting for you.

I’m not too interested in anything below bantamweight. I’ll still watch occasionally

What weight is the cut off for you? Personally, I enjoy a good scrap whether it's a back and forth war of attraction or a brutal KO at any weight. I think 160 is the sweet spot, guys hit hard enough to get the brutal ko, but have the endurance to go a full 12 rounds.
