Ok he’s been gracious in defeat, so has Hearn, but he gets no respect. The very first time he faced REAL adversity, multiple light knockdowns, and a style match up that doesn’t suit him he quits. Rather than ride the storm and keep the belts and the 0 he pulls a khan. I don’t like wilder, but he was being embarrassed by fury but he never stopped, totally gassed and he got the 12th round knockdown to save his 0 and title. Fury we don’t even need to question his heart. Would any of the other top 10 heavyweights quit like that? ‘Big Femi’ has a bully mentality, and when he got his own medicine he couldn’t get out quick enough.
If he doesn't take the rematch he could end up in a situation where he's waiting 2 to 3 years for a title shot after one of Fury or Wider deals with a guy that Parker dealt with (he won) couple of years ago. Fury and Wilder will f**k about and avoid giving him a shot, you just know it, he needs those belts back to save his career, as ridiculous as that sounds, and it is, but look at what Wilder and Fury are currently doing.
If he’s serious about his career He should start flirting with the other American based promoters. Wilder v fury made easy enough. Twice. Otherwise his career will be over, It could be 2/3 years in the wilderness
No, if he’s serious he needs to take the Ruiz rematch very seriously and do all he can to beat him - he needs to sort his cardio out.
His cardio isn’t going to improve now. It’s one of his weaknesses, very similar to price. Maybe if he dropped 30 pounds it might, but then he’s no wilder so his power will go. He needs to really rethink everything top to bottom. I just don’t see how he beats Ruiz unless he completely changes up his style, but he’s always going to have a period where he will gas an Ruiz will be all over him.
Ruiz isn't invincible, he could have been taken out prior to the stoppage if AJ was really on his game. This fight has really built up Ruiz to be something I don't think he is, he's decent but you wait until he's on the floor squinting trying to get up and Wilder is dancing around like something out of CB4, that's the moment that the heavyweight division dies.
I know what you mean but he has to find a level which will help him more, he’s too big. Just drop a bit of muscle and he’ll be better for it. Maybe it’s too late but he has to try or like you say, not much will change in the rematch.
Well there is a rematch clause and AJ has absolutely no intention whatsoever of taking an inbetween fight. So the rematch will be direct and he must win. Personally dont think he can win unless he makes drastic changes. But he aint taking no warm up fight he has made that crystal clear.
It's not even been 24 hrs yet mate give it a rest. He's probably only now coming around from the concussion. You have no idea what his, Hearn's, Ruiz or Haymons plans are. If you think Haymon's just going to stand around with a stick up his arse and wait for Eddie to rob Ruiz in London you are very much mistaken.
Joshua goes from being one of the best heavyweights around to one that will never be able beat Andy Ruz jnr in one off night.
Well don't shoot the messenger??? I am just parroting what AJ said, and he was very very vocal about not taking any inbetween fight. He was crystal clear. You think he changes his mind, fair enough we'll see.
It’s an “immediate rematch clause” the way I read it. So from what I gather it’s now or never. Before you know it Haymon will be lining up Wilder vs Ruiz In a unification. If Wilder got his hands on the belts Joshua would never see them again regardless of ability. Look at Whyte, he’s been number 1 / mandatory for 3 years!
I can assure you in a power play between Haymon and Hearn for a fight involving a frigging Mexican and Wilder, and the draw that brings stateside, there's only one winner and it won't be Brentwood.
Friendly reminder that he was badly concussed and had just taken a nasty beating when he made those comments. Emotions, context and motivation change.
Crazy fight, me and my pals couldn't believe what was happening. Fair play to Ruiz jr, was very clever and fought well. Joshua got beat fair and square, and I also appreciate that he and Hearn didn't make excuses. Rematch is absolute huge now, a complete must win. Joshua has to make improvements, but I'm interested to see what happens from here.
