You need to get down the bookies then as Ruiz is 5/2 underdog for the rematch.

Why are people talking about Ruiz like he is Superman? The rematch will be the same as Kovalev v Alvarez or Lewis v Rahman,

I'm all over that if it happens. In my opinion team AJ DUCK the rematch.

Two brutal KO losses on the bounce to a tubby little Mexican will be the end of product AJ. they simply can't risk it

What could he really say? He was comprehensively beaten. Hearn gave him the humble graceful in defeat script to speak when this is the reality

It was a beat down. I had Ruiz winning round 1, Joshua edging round 2 before we all know what happened in round 3. It wasn’t a one sided boxing lesson which all changed on a lucky punch, Ruiz timed him. Joshua didn’t look right from the start. He was pawing the jab out. I don’t think he’s suddenly turned into a poor fighter but I think a fighter who took his biggest shots and responded with several fast shots of his own should be avoided for now. Stylistically, at this stage he is all wrong for him. I didn’t think this the hours after the fight but after watching it 4 times, listening to the things he was saying to Rob McCracken in the corner, the naivety, the way in which he’d clearly had enough and didn’t want anymore (he didn’t quit but he did have the fight beat out of him) changed my opinion.

AJ just needs a win against Ruiz by hook or by crook. Then he can work on adapting his style or whatever. Now is not the time to rebuild.

depends, its easier on the way up to the top to stay motivated and focused than when you're a multimillionaire with no need to ever even fight again.

Which is precisely why I think this will be a different story. He is no longer at the top now he is trying to get back to the top.

Benson at it again. When he typed that out he thought he was giving a Jim Lampley level of summation.

More like Rungvisai vs Chocalatito 2

Kovalev v Alvarez I was competitive in the first match prior to the stoppage. I had Kovalev ahead on my card.

    Rahman-Lewis I was a one punch KO.

Joshua-Ruiz was a sustained beating. Joshua never looked comfortable from the beginning of the fight and whilst he can win a rematch there’s nothing to suggest that it’s anything other than a 50:50 shootout probably slightly in Ruiz’s favour because he took Joshua’s punches well.

I was more looking towards the result of the rematch not a technical breakdown of the two fights. A 50:50 fight in Ruiz favour?

There is quite a lot to suggest it will be different to the first fight - to think anything different is absurd. For example every other fight in their pro careers and how good AJ has looked. AJs several wins over top competitors compared to Ruiz career where he hasn't set the world alight.
AJ looking incredibly sluggish and looking like he was having a very bad night at the office (granted Ruiz was the catalyst for the bad night) but still wouldn't put any money on AJ looking that bad in the rematch.
The rematch probably being in London, AJs home and where he has looked his best - foreign territory for Ruiz.
The rematch will be completely different to the first fight if AJ doesn't get clipped behind the ear, which I am sure he will be a lot more on the ball next time out and not getting involved as much.

Just like an upset in a cup match in football. A lesser team can catch a big team cold, play them off the park for 90 minutes and win convincingly. It doesn't then mean in a rematch there is nothing to suggest the bigger team would still be favourite.

I don’t agree with that but it’s just the way I see it. Joshua has always struggled with smaller men who get in their face, like Nistor who stopped him in the Ams.

I don’t think this was an anomaly I just think Ruiz’s style and game plan works well against Joshua’s rigid jab 1-2 stiff no head movement approach. I’d favour Ruiz in a rematch slightly although as I said it really is a shootout. The longer it goes the more you favour Ruiz because of how AJ tires.

I think sometimes, a fighter just has your number. A smaller man who works on the inside with very fast hands who can take a shot is possibly kryptonite once again for a 6”6 muscle bound, stiff, slower (yet powerful) fighter.
