Fairly standard procedure after such a brutal KO. Let's hope he was okay but this was always on the cards, he's been shot for a while now.
Respect to both guys. Such a shame for Enzo, he was winning that fight and had he not made the mistake of swinging that wild shot he wouldn't have got caught. That was nothing to do with chin and the fact he got up from that is a testament to his heart, not sure many cruisers would have.
I've not seen the fight yet, but does anyone think the fight was close enough before the KO to warrant a rematch? By the sounds of it Enzo was winning and started to get sloppy:think. That point aside, I wish Enzo all the best. I've always liked him and have always wanted him to do well. Last night's outcome was a massive shame after his mini-resurgence:-(. All the best to Matty Hall as well:thumbsup.
Respect to both. Enzo needs to retire now. As for Hall he probably could carry on and be competitive with the likes of Webb, Arron or a return with Small. But I can understand his decision as he's never going further than domestic level again.
I'd say so, Enzo was bossing the fight imo. Frenkel looked good in the first round but once Enzo established himself he was bossing the fight. No real point in the rematch though, Enzo would fight too cautiously and too many ko's like that can't be good for your health. He's made plenty of money from the sport so he should walk away with his head held high and health intact. Enzo is one boxer I would love to meet, just because he is such a nice bloke and I am glad he won a version of the world title.
A shame the fight went the way it did, I was truly gutted. I hope Enzon retires now. He's given enough to boxing and I'd hate to see him get permanently damaged. All the best Enzo :good
yep unlucky lads i like hall dunno if he should retire though, if thats how he feels probably better off as for enzo he needs to quit asap but thanks for entertaing us over the years
Enzo may have been winning that fight but there should not be a rematch simply because of the way the fight ended. I can't see Karl Ince or Frank Warren wanting to take that chance again. His punch resistance has lessened even more now and if he got got caught again like he did last night then a long-term injury could be on the cards. Of course you can box without getting tagged like that but Enzo will always be vulnerable to those shots because there's always that split second in a round where he thinks "right, lets have him" and he goes for it and leaves himself vulnerable. I fear a lesser shot could now put him down. He's achieved a lot and been in with some quality operators. He can still walk away from this sport knowing that he has all the respect and love from all his fans. There's no reason why Enzo can't start training, set up an academy in Wales or something like that. Or simply do a Welsh swap: Piper for Big Mac :good
I would have thought Hall still had a fight or two left in him at British title level but best of luck to him if his decision to retire is his definate one. Enzo should chase Haye for a last pay day....nah he should sit back and take in a very good career now.
Interesting stuff. I wouldn't want the bloke to get any more long-term damage either, I was just wondering how the fight was panning out before the stoppage. I don't really know why, but I didn't watch the card last night and for some reason I was never really up for the Magnificent 7 bill either. Strange as I've paid for some God-awful cards in the past as well. I shall have to watch the fight some time. Enzo on the Sky panel would be amazing; that's a great idea. He's decent behind the camera as well. Wouldn't it be funny if the 'keyboard warriors' got big Enzo a post-fight-career job on TV by drumming up interest online. Thanks for the lowdown, gentlemen:good.
If Frenkels' legs had been jelly underneath him after than first knockdown there's no way the ref would have let it carry on. Enzo shouldn't have had to take that vicious knockout. I hope he's alright, maybe he should call it quits now all his KO losses in the last 2 years have been particularily ugly.
Enzo still has the ability to perfo at a certain level and make money, but I was genuinely distressed last night, that was a horrible ending down to poor refereeing, the first KD was bad enough, Enzo had crossed-eyes and all sorts, but the second one was sickening. Enzo hasn't got good enough punch resistance to justify sticking around IMO. He was caught with some beauties last night though, showed what a MASSIVE HEART he has by getting himself somewhere approaching fighting shape (well according to the Ref, and Enzo still had some wits about him as he tried to clinch) after the first left hook, which like the one that ended the combo that finished Enzo, were Alexander-Takaloo-esque. Frightening. I really felt for Enzo, who by all accounts is a really nice bloke.
