    From Rafael's blog;

"It truly will be a summit meeting of the sport's best. It's rare that the best two fighters in the world fight in the same weight class and have such polar-opposite personalities.

Please, when the fight happens (and again, that's when, not if), let's make sure there is no catch weight associated with the match.

Mayweather has been a welterweight since 2005, even if he hasn't been fighting the best welterweights. Although Pacquiao has had only two welterweight fights, it's clear that he can more than handle the division considering he didn't lose a second to Oscar De La Hoya before pounding him into retirement in just eight rounds, and he dominated Miguel Cotto for most of their fight before scoring an authoritative 12th-round TKO.

Pacquiao-Mayweather -- or Mayweather-Pacquiao, if you prefer -- should be at the traditional welterweight limit of 147 pounds."

For the record, Dan has been very critical of Floyd and very complimentary of Pac. This blog by Rafael enforces what I was saying to people who were advocating a catchweight. The media will not support a catchweight. A guy like Rafael can't go along with a catchweight when he has Pacquiao ranked ahead of Mayweather at WW. Many boxing writers have Pac ranked ahead of Mayweather both P4P and at Welter. Many are also picking Pac to win. They will not support a catchweight. If the fight doesn't come off because Team Pac insists on a catchweight, they will turn on Pacquiao.

Another thing, Mayweather would not be affected by a catchweight. He can make 145. It's not about that. It's the principal of an established Welter who holds a Welterweight belt asking another Welter(who he's supposedly better than) to fight him at a catchweight. It's nonsensical and won't be tolerated.

Hey Reg im looking forward for your Pac hate thread later on.

After the Pac doesnt fight slick black fighters, and the Pac is on steroids i see that catchweight is the next topic.

Like i said im looking forward to another of your positive threads about boxing.

Bladerunner, pretty much every post you make about Mayweather is negavtive. Also, I never said Pac doesn't fight slick, black fighters. Your lack of comprehension skills is what lead you to that false conclusion. Also, I never said Pac was on steroids(I've actually said the accusations are baseless). Again, this goes back to your lack of comprehension skills. Saying a Welter shouldn't ask another Welter to fight him at a catchweight is also not hate. It's common sense. Your assumption that it's hate reflects on the fact that you are a biased Pacquiao nuthugger. You are everyhing that you claim to hate about Mayweather fans.

Everyone that read your dumb thread could see that you talked about him ducking slick black fighters, and now after you were made to look like the fool you are you're trying to retract it.

And yes i criticize your boy but thats cause he deserves it for not giving the fans the fights they want but i dont expect fans like you to understand that after all you're all about pay per view numbers and big payday what happens in the square circle comes second .

That is probably because he is dying to move up to welter anyway. Duran has been kown to struggle making weights due to his lifestyle.

The guy had one fight at a catchweight and these idiots act like he has made a career out of it.

Btw Duran had many fights at 147 and some even above it before he fought SRL he didnt went from 135 straight to a fight with SRL.

I do agree....147 should be the fight weight...no matter how it gets done. I think the weight is less of the issue for this one and the purse split will be the big obstacle.

He never said anything about "ducking" slick, black fighters...

He said his camp kept him clear of slick fighters, regardless of race. And it just so happens that many black American fighters use that defensive-first, slick style. He also said that it gave the perception that he was ducking them.... he never agreed with that opinion.

And no, I'm not a Mayweather fan by any stretch, and you know this... But c'mon man, truth is truth.

Numerous people pointed out correctly the point that I was attempting to make. The thread was a mistake though. I underestimated people here on ESB. Most simply don't read these threads carefully and jump to false conclusions.

I'm a fight fan, I want to see interesting fights. However, if you're simply about fighters giving fans the fight they want to see, then why would you dissregard PPV numbers? They are a direct reflection of what the fans want to see. You advocate Mayweather fighting Mosley over Pac, yet the fight fans want to see is Mayweather vs. Pac. How could you take this stance if you are truly about fighters taking on fights the fans want to see. Personally, I would be happy with either fight. They would both be good fights.

Your problem Blade is that you often attack me based on statements that other people have made who happen to Mayweather fans, rather than attacking me on an actual point that I made. You're posting in this thread yet you have yet to address the central point. We don't have to be at eachother's throat. It's ok to have differing opinions. If you have a problem with an opinion I hold, that's fine. But don't come at me and throw insults around based on things I never said.

He did say it but why even mention race in the first place when he doesnt have anything to do with it.

Hell he couldnt even mention more than one slick fighter that Pac avoided in his view, but by the way he talked it made it seem like there was a lot of slick fighters that Pac could have faced when they were not.

There was one and that was Guzman and now theres another one in the cherrypicker and he will most likely fight him.
