The problem with the Jones fight was not the way it was promoted...it was...the fight itself.
90% knew what was going to happen. But Rafael is a bit right in accusing Calzaghe. The guy says boxing is dying but doesn't seem to realise that its machup like that (Calz-Jones) who's killing boxing...So..

It did terrible because Roy Jones is shot, promotion only matters so much.

The public are not stupid they will pay for good competitive fights more than these type of fights.

Most great fights sell themselves such as Haye vs Vitali will sell itself.

 

The only thing killing boxing is ****ing farcical mismatches like Calzaghe-Jones. Joe here's a good rule to follow in your promoting career - don't set up fights with guys that you said in your own autobiography were shot years ago.
