I'm trying to list the fighters from best to worst, which is what a believe a true p4p list is. 1. Floyd 2. Pac 3. Calz 4. Cotto 5. JMM 6. Kessler 7. Haye 8. Shane Mosley 9. Jorge Linares 10. Vlad 11. Hopkins 12. Chris John 13. Ricky Hatton 14. Lucian Bute 15. Cristian Mijares 16. Israel Vasquez 17. Kelly Pavlik 18. Chad Dawson 19. Nonito Donaire 20. Rafa Marquez 21. Joan Guzman 22. Jermain Taylor 23. Wright 24. Cory Spinks 25. Nate Campbell
The only issue I have with the list is DLH at the #12 spot. I think that is absolutely ridiculous. They give him too much credit for being "competitive" with FMJ. He's 2-2 over the past 4 years and arguably should be 1-3.
Maragrito? Ridiculous. Wlad, Haye, Woods, Abraham, Witter, Diaz and Mijares should all be above him. They may not all be top 20 guys themselves, but they have to be ahead of Margo. A win over Golden Johnson and a loss to the very average Paul Williams doesn't compare to the above's wins over Sultan, Enzo, Mormeck, Gonzalez, Ghevor, Miranda, Harris, Corley, Diaz, Freitas, Arce etc.
He did beat the **** out of Mosely to become the first undisputed champ at 154. He then beat him again for the fun of it. He totally dismantled Tito. I think he deserved the decision against Taylor. I give him a lot of props for going up to 170 and giving a good effort against Hopkins.
People talk **** about Winky being a ***** and all but the fact is that Winky was a guy who took on all comers and came forward against bigger guys. He was the aggressor in both the JT and Hopkins fight. He's a warrior.
Going backward three years for Winky: 1) Fighting above his natural weight, lost a clear decision to old man Hopkins 2) Won a clear, if uninspiring decision over Quartey 3) Fought evenly against and got a draw against Taylor 4) Looked lackluster in a decision win over Soliman 5) Dominated an old and inactive Trinidad That's a good resume, but not a great one. To me, he's a top 20 guy, not a top 10.
I agree with you 100% on Spinks, but hell, Spinks deserves to be in there over Abraham. Abraham doesnt have the quality of opposition yet to be considered top 20 P4P, not to mention the fact that he got a gift decision against Miranda. And I love Kessler, I think he will definatley become a top 15 P4P guy, but he doesn't have the names on his resume yet to deserve it either, though he would be near the high teens in my list. Taylor does have the names on his resume to justify it, yet I feel like he's a little high on the list. As far as Hopkins goes, until somebody beats him clearly, he deserves to be where he is, though that will change April 19th. I personally wouldn't put Klit in and I don't think Haye would be in there yet, Mormeck and Kelly are his 2 real quality wins, though i tend to prefer the lighter weights.
hey einstein how long ago was that? your keeping winky in the top 10 because of what he did 3 or 4 year ago? oh and by the way go watch the second fight with ssm, mosley beat his ass:yep
why did he decline a fight with oscar de la hoya? a guy he wanted to fight for so long? also why the hell did he decline a fight with antonio friggin margarito?atsch
