It's just funny how every sports star that seems to project a impression of "Goody two shoes" then seems to be something they quite clearly are not. It's disgraceful - the best British boxer ever to go and sniff Cocaine, especially after collecting accolade after accolade (mainly being praised for his clean lifestyle).
What? The school newspaper? ****ing too right. Brad Pitt, Angelena Jolie, Ali Dizaei and Paul Burrell all had a go at them for the stories News of the World printed. I'm sure their editor Piers Morgan who published pictures of British troops torturing an Iraqi man had to walk because they were fake.
To the best of my knowledge Joe has never projected this goody two shoes image himself. Admittedly the media has sometimes credited him with that image but that has never been based on any actual evidence. If you are famous and swan around London in all the trendy bars and restaurants then the British press will credit you with a certain reputation but if you basically stay in your home town and don't act like a big time charlie (pardon the pun) then the press will give you this image of a pipe and slippers man and in bed by 9 with a cup of cocoa. Just because he still lives in the same small village where he grew up and doesn't act like a prima donna like other "celebrities" doesn't mean that he doesn't like the odd line or that he doesn't go to midget orgy parties.
It's just disappointing - a top athlete is not sopposed to do that. I'm a fan of his, he gives inspiration - I think that's why this case makes a bigger difference than other matters would.
I can see your point but i'm not going to give Joe to much **** for it and in reality most people won't either (im talking about the general public, not the gutter press). I take the stuff myself but admittedly im not a top athlete so its not the same but at least Joe didn't take the stuff whilst he was still competing. Not that i would see anything morally wrong with that, its just that taking that **** isn't good for the body plus you run the risk of getting found out and banned.
Is it just me thinking this; has Calzaghe's popularity risen slightly since this POS story came about? Joe's the man. :good
He's not a "top athlete" anymore. If he wants to do a line or two on his night out, that's his choice. If he was going out and drinking 10 beers a night, would that be better for you?
