That was the Daily Mirror. And News of The Worls doesn't print lies. The fact that Calzaghe has come out and apologised for letting his fans down shows that their exposé was true. I've lost a lot of respect for the guy. I don't care if half the country takes coke, I've no respect for them either.
Do you know how many children died in Colombia and Africa, how many people have been murdered by drug dealers for you to enjoy your line of white on a night out?
Coke is overpriced and generally a bit disappointing, i'd respect him more if he'd shown a bit more nous in choosing which drug to dabble in.
Why do people keep thinking their idol's are "Goody two shoes"? It's not like he has been proven to use it during fights or killed anyone because of it. Many boxers did/do blow it's their choice as long as it doesn't interfere with them fighting then what's the big deal?
What about people who drink alcohol? Alcohol kills much more people and destroys far more lives than any illegal narcotic.
for ****s sake its drugs why are you all jumping to his defence he was in a hotel room with strangers talking about cocaine he deserves to get the **** that is flying his way , more for stupididty than anything
1. Alcoholism and alcohol-related violence are not the same thing as children being forced to become child soldiers, or drug traffickers; villages being burnt to the ground etc. as aprt of the drug trade. If you can't seee the difference then you're an idiot. 2. Is what you said even true? Do significantly more people die everyday from alcohol than are murdered in Mexico, El Salvador, Colombia, Venezuela, the USA etcl as a direct result of the drug industry?
The reason they have to project that "goody two shoes" impression is because of narrow minded judgmental people like you.
I feel sorry for the guy and I feel a little let down by this. The people who got him into this should be ashamed of themselves. Lives are ruined by drugs and youngsters may now look at Calzaghe and think, he was great and he admits taking drugs so why not try them. Is this the start of another star falling from grace and ending up broke? After having a great career, what do athletes do afterwards? After reading the article, you get the impression from it that Calzaghe is bitter about the success others are having now and the earnings they have. Also, is Calzaghe missing the sport and has he a void in his life, would it be a good idea for him to come back now and fight for a few years?
