Define whiat the real Champ should do. In the old days, the challenger would be beat the Champ, and as the New Champ, take a "tune-up", then start taking on the legit contenders, with a "easy" fight here and there. is this still the accepted mode of operation?
I think the champ needs to fight the best two or three fighters he shares an era/weight division with. If he does that i'm satisfied. It wasn't always as rosey in the past as we'd like to believe though. Dempsey's failure to fight Wills, Robinson's failure to fight Burley - these are more disgusting ducks than anything we're enduring currently, in my opinion.
