Yeh. Knew he had cancer, posted here since 2005/06, remember him from then and after I rejoined. Just seen on CHB that he has died.

A few days ago I went to PM Joe something about Willie Pep. It was just a split second of not remembering. His presence is missed.

One in our family of boxing posters.
An incredible man with with nothing but good things to say about people.
Not once did I ever see John berate anyone of the members here on ESB, no matter how dumb they might be or actually were.

Did'nt know he had passed. Just googled him and he died Nov. 7th.

    One of ESB's finest ever.

    Always enjoyed your posts JG!
    RIP Mr. Joe Rein!

Im sure we had a thread dedicted to his memory quite a few months ago.

He was a good kind poster who had shared memories of lots of great fighters like robinson and pep and many many others. I liked the cut of his jib. Dont make them like him anymore it seems:?

Great poster, and by all accounts a great guy. I never met him personally or knew him beyond his posts, but even from that little glimpse I got of him, he really came off as a class act and a credit to the sport- let alone our message boards.

RIP Joe Rein, aka john garfield

    Oh ****.

First time this kind of news has given me that punched in the gut feeling in real life.

We'll miss you JG. I hate thinking about everything he knew, all his stories, just not existing anymore. I remember me and other classic posters urged him to write a book.

He died in November 2013, why am I only hearing about his death until today?

His avatar is probably one of the most memorable ones.
