John ALWAYS had time for a chat and was a TRUE gentleman I sincerely hope he's resting in peace . If Joes family are reading any of this then my kindest Regards & Respect from Wales UK .
Miss his contributions on the Classic forum. Never met him, but felt like I knew him. RIP old friend.
God Bless Him. R.I.P. Joe....He was a great guy and I always made a point to read his posts. Very knowledgeable and a gentleman. He really gave class to the place.
You're one little salty ***got, **** outta here with that ****. But back on topic. He was a very knowledgable guy, remember having talks with him. Still can't believe he's gone. :-(
Can only echo all the good things said about Joe/John. ESB is irreplaceably poorer for his passing. RIP.
Great gosh! I was thinking of my fellow Brooklynite John Garfield for the past few days and now I see this!! Like so many here, I felt as if I had known him for years. He was a man without prejudice who treated everyone as if he had known them for years. Having been blessed to have grown up in Brooklyn, like him I have tried my level best to do the same by treating everyone like friends. Blessings to Joe. Blessings to all who were fortunate enough to have corresponded with or read his writings.
Those still out here who were active in this forum 10-15 years ago will remember Joe Rein, who used to post under the name of his favorite actor "John Garfield" --today marks the 10th anniversary of his death. Joe Rein was a great boxing man and a great man period. He was mentor to more than I can count, and that includes me. He was also the consigliere when the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board was being formed back in the summer of 2012 and has a memorial on that site: https://tbrb.org/in-memoriam
Ten years sure flies by, it only seems like yesterday we were chatting and arguing with boxing debates.
