Because if you do your dumb.Resto is so full of **** its pathetic.Talking about how he wanted to kill himself-he never even thought about it.He actually thought it would blow over and he'd get his license back to box.
Anybody who's ever boxed would know that the padding was removed from the gloves once they made contact with there oppoenent.Thats such a an outright lie that he "claims" he didn't know the gloves were tampered with.
And anybody that feels sorry for Resto is pathetic.Resto and his group basically killed Collins that night-took his hopes and dreams away and Collins bascially killed himself. How Collins finished that fight I'll never know.
And then Resto goes down to confront Lewis about the gloves and Lewis in so many words tells Resto to be quiet and Lewis once he gets back on his feet will take care of Resto's kids??If Lewis did that to me and I truly didn't know it(which would be impossible)I would choke the living hell out of him on camera.

Sad story.... but that HBO documentary was pathetic! I'm used to HBO making good little documentaries (legendary nights, Joe Louis: America's Hero Betrayed...etc), but "Assault in the Ring" was awful. I like boxing and love the history of the sport, but i hated this documentary.... everything from the film maker bothering Collins' family with incessant phone calls to Resto's lousy acting and fake crying.... To answer your question: i don't think anybody in their right mind would believe either Resto or Lewis... They participated together in a heinous crime and got what they deserved.... banishment from boxing.

Agree.Funny thing is that Resto "finally" admitted the truth after the documentary person informed him he had the transcripts from his meeting with the detectives.
How great would it have been if Collin's father would have answered the door with a shotgun!
Not only did Resto beat on Collins with less padding in his gloves but he alos had plaster in his hand-wraps?

No question, the guy who made that doc was way too sympathetic to Resto, and gave him way too much airtime. Collins' father wasn't willing to talk to him, so he just focused on Resto's "side" of the story and ran with it.
