I saw the fight and while watching it Resto looked like a million bucks, until after the decision is announced and Collins' Dad notices the pading is mostly gone from Resto's gloves. That piece of **** Panama Lewis (Resto's trainer) is really something. If I recall correctly Collins suffered permanent facial damage that ended his boxing career and later died in a auto wreck that some say was suicide. I saw a few of Collins fights, including his pro debut, and he was very workman like and an extremmely tough individual.
I posted this a little while ago...I really want to see the documentary. Panama Lewis is a disgusting individual. Luis Resto tries to claim innocence, but I don't believe him. One interesting thing about this is that there have been stories of big time drug dealers putting major money on the fight. They bet on the underdog Resto so they wanted to ensure victory, so Panama took the padding out. It was talked about on a news segment a few years later and it will be covered in the documentary as well.
I've read a couple trainers over a couple years saying that it's at least possible a fighter wouldn't know, but most everyone else says that's extremely unlikely. I tend not to believe Resto.
It's pure bull****. Anyone who has boxed with 4 oz gloves (for bagwork) and 12 or 16 oz can tell the difference with their eyes closed. If that wasn't enough, watch Resto's reaction when he's caught. It has guilty written all over it. This is just as bull**** an excuse as "i didn't know they were steroids, i have never heard of Evan Fields, but Tyson did use them" ,etc.
