Hmmmm well Im not sure why they needed to do this HBO are extremely biased I know the whole Chavez Jr debacle showed that.

But Mayweather might as well put up with it.....doing this either shows that he is bothered by it or that he has huge bargaining power over at HBO.

I'm actually not sure which of the above it is.

Perhaps this inescure child should rethink his position on doing a 24/7 and airing his ****in dirty laundry and embaressing himself and most people with common decency.

Censorship is pretty bad for a journalist/newscaster/sportscaster/tv personality. The fact is, if it's relavent to the fight, it should be fair game to speak of. Does Mayweather's personal issues have a bearing on the action in the ring? Maybe it does. I mean, I can't think of anyone else besides May who can perform at such a high level even with all that nonsense going on his life. The commentators should be able to speak on that.

In any event Hershman should turn this down because he shouldn't let fighters dictate terms to him and his company. HBO is a powerful force in boxing, hugely powerful and if that force is handled weakly, by letting promoters / fighters / managers dictate HOW a broadcast can be run, what censors they want in place then it's bad news for the fans.

What's next? Pac won't allow the personalities to bring up PED accusations or the fact that he has a couple of losses on his record. Yes that info is easily available to find out if someone is interested, but it doesn't mean it should be restricted. Will Canelo / GBP not allow the broadcast team to talk about him fighting cans and has beens?

“A free press can of course be good or bad, but, most certainly, without freedom it will never be anything but bad."

can merchant still ask floyd if he wants to fight pacquiao next or should he be silent on that one too?

floyd would be better living in communist china.

I agree with you 100% although I think they maybe forced his hand a bit when they treat Mayweather differently from other fighters.

In what world don't you ask Chavez Jr about his DUI two weeks before a fight, when he has issues making weight?

Also how come they never mention Manny Pacquiao's infedelities?

I understand Floyd brings alot of hate/heat on himself by how he behaves but sometimes I do think HBO go a little too far.

Plus no matter what anyone thinks of Floyd he is big money for HBO and I'm sure Showtime would accomodate him.....so the leverage was already there!

so you are approving censorship to protect Money May of those bad old *******s?? Anyway I doubt that Floyd really demanded this because he knows that any negative comment just improves his status

This is dumb. Editorial censorship undermines HBo and the sport.

And not like boxers only discuss boxing in the ring. They thank God, who does their hair, etc.

    Dumb and infantile.

But they did mention JCCjrs DUI on the broadcast right? I'm fairly certain they brought it up at some point, although I do agree that asking him about it should have been an available option during the post fight interview.

As far as Manny's infidelity, has that ever played a part in the fight that he was participating in at that moment? Seems like if it would get mentioned anywhere it would be on a 24/7 or something like that. It also could be a matter of degrees. For instance, is Manny's philandering worse then Floyd's assault?

Infidelity in marriage is a fairly common thing and is legal, where as assault/battery are not. Also, assault and crimes of that nature are more interesting then an athlete sleeping around.

I would hope though, that if Manny is involved in any political corruption (practically a given I would bet in the Philippines) that they would mention it.

Now Mayweather could, theoretically, beat the **** out of a woman in his dressing room (as a pre-fight warm up) and Lampley/Merchant couldn't comment on it. What a *****.

They refused to ask Cahvez about the incident as they didn't want to affect his mentality for the fight???? Which is BS as far as I'm concerned they should have asked him and made him explain himself, I genuinely believe they would have for Floyd.

No Manny's affairs aren't worse but when he is rumoured to have fathered an illegitamate child leading up to a fight then I guess that would be interesting back drop information on what kind of mental state he is going into the fight?? But they never really say anything negative about Manny.

In any case I think that HBO don't treat Mayweather fairly BUT this is unnecessary......

who cares if he did beat the **** out of a women in the dress room to warm up? it has zero to do with boxing. anyways, the chances of that happening is as great as your chances of touching another ***** other than your own
