Former Bulgarian heavy weight amateur star Kubrat Pulev won his third pro fight by UD. He outboxed his far more experienced African foe,the Nigerian olympian and Lamon Brewster conqueror,Gbenga Olokoun(17-2) in almost every round of their encounter.
Well done job!:good Pulev is a green rookie who seems to be the real deal! Bloody tough matchmaking by the way!

Finnish heavy weight talent Robert Helenius(9-0) overcame the biggest obstacle in his short pro career by stopping the very capable Ukranian operator Taras Bidenko(26-3) in round 4 of their encounter.Actually,a nasty cut did stop Bidenko.Anyway! Helenius showed a pretty convincing performance against an experienced rival who had shared the ring with numerous known names before.
Helenius didnt take any unnecessary risks outboxing and dominating his foe throughout all rounds. One of Helenius' powerful shots opened a cut over Bidenko's right eye in round 3 due to which the ref stopped the fight.
Helenius has pop in his fists,is a pretty big fellow, has talent and one of the best coaches in the business in his corner.
Very promising heavy weight talent! He is scheduled to face Lamon Brewster on the undercard of Huck vs Olafabi!
I am looking forward to his encounter with the American vet!

Austrian middle weight hope Marcus Nader(4-0) won a hard fought and close fight over Italian toughman Ciro Ciano(6-4).

British supermiddle weight George Groves(6-0) wasnt able to stop teak tough Belarussian journeyman Konstantin Makhankou(15-16).

American based undefeated Puerto Rican cruiser weight Francisco Palacios(18-0) smashed his American opponent DeLeon Tinsley(9-5) in the very first round of their encounter knocking him down twice before the ref stopped the fight.

German based Ukranian cruiser weight hope Alexander Frenkel(20-0) also stopped his opponent, former American world champ Kelvin Davis(24-12) in the very first round.Frenkel hurt his foe with a big left uppercut and then went for the kill. The ref stopped the fight a bit prematurely IMO.Anyway! Frenkel was sharp and ready to showcase his skills in front of a sold out arena. His entire fight was shown by German tv.
Watch out cruisers! A new sheriff is in town!
A new star in the making!

John Ruiz scored a 7 round tko victory over German based Turkish journeyman Adnan Serin(19-11).
Very poor performance by Ruiz against an opponent who was brutally floored by Virchis in the very first round of their encounter.
Serin was even able to hold his own now and then against Ruiz!

Belarus' pride Sergej Lyakhovich(23-3) didnt have to sweat in his fight with American journeyman Jermey Bates(23-16).
Sergej neeeded just one good punch to take his overmatched opponent out!
Impressive performance by Lyakhovich on German soil!:good
I very much hope that he soon gets a big fight and a big paycheck by squaring off against one of the numerous German based heavies!

German heavy weight talent Edmund Gerber(8-0) destroyed his American foe Shawn McLean in the very first round of their encounter.Gerber went out with blazing guns looking for a quick ko victory.
Gerber played in a totally different dimension.I am still puzzled how the hell McLean was able to score a ko victory over Faruuq Saleem(38-0),and how the hell he was able to go the full distance with Romanian heavy weight talent Bogdan Dinu.
He was nothing more than a living punching bag against Gerber.
First time I watched one of Gerber's fights.
The young German seems to be one of the more gifted young new faces at heavy weight.

Thanks for a quality update. So, Helenius, Pulev, and Gerber are out to make their mark in the heavyweight divison. I wonder who the best of the three is?

Well,I dont want to jump the gun too early. Gerber showed an impressive performance against a no-hoper.Lets wait and see how he fares in a fight in which he comes up against stiff resistance!
He may turn out to be a tempest in the tea-pot!!

Pulev is a very promsing new face at heavy weight.Props to him for beating someone like Olokoun in his 3rd pro fight.
I liked the way he beat the African olympian.Very well done for a green rookie with just 2 pro fights under his belt:good

Helenius is big,has one of the best available coaches in his corner, has a contract with one of the most powerful promoters on the globe, and a telling punch.
I am still not 100% sold on him.Too stiff, too predictable for my taste! I cant quite put my finger on it!
Anyway! Honour where honour is due! I dont want to look for the famous fly in the ointment! He has passed the biggest test hin career succsssfully with flying banners.
The same Bidenko who gave hell to Valuev in their encounter lost on Valuev's undercard to an inexperienced fighter in such a way that you fear for his further career. He should think things over and call it a day!
Bidenko has never had much pop in his fists! His speed used to be his sharpest weapon.Made me think how easily Helenius connected with some of his punches. And lets be honest, Helenius is not really that fast a fighter.Thats for certain!
