bro I’m a non title fight 1lb is allowed the only fights that were considered MW was Cotto and Khan simply because of the title. If Garcia fights Thurman tomorrow and comes in at 147.5 or 148 that’s still a WELTERWEIGHT FIGHT, you leave out Canelo winning another JMW title vs Smith after beating Cotto, it’s amazing how you GGG stans wanna claim Canelo ducked him by not moving up in weight when GGG has refused to do that ever in his career.. this man got a draw and then lost and has been on a bum of the month tour his entire career… GIVE IT UP Golovkin was a fraud bruh!

I'd like to clear some things up since this has turned into a GGG advocacy thread.

He's owned nothing by the judges from the Canelo fights. Both results were reasonable, with the second being flat out correct by those who are good at scoring fights. Fans still struggle to understand how Canelo's hard, accurate, flush punches win him rounds against guys who land grazing head shots on him and expend energy throwing a bunch of punches that don't land. There's no conspiracy. Canelo does the things that win a close 10-9 over and over.

Of course, GGG was given the benefit of the doubt in fights with D-Chenko and Jacobs which were closer than the second Canelo fight. No surprise that that is conveniently ignored in this thread. He could potentially have four loses instead of one loss and one draw.

@lufcrazy incorrectly stated that he made nine unified defenses. He didn't win his second title until he beat the limited Lemieux, at which point he had five a defenses left, and only made two defenses after fighting the more highly regarded titlist in Jacobs. He never was lineal since he never beat Caenlo. Let's also not forget that GGG's original WBA was gifted to him for beating some journeyman named Nilson Tapia.

As for the quality of his defenses, there is plenty to be desired even after discounting that he didn't face Cotto, Martinez, or Pirog (injury). Erislandy Lara (ad nauseam), Ward, and Froch all called him out and none of those fights happened. At middle, Sturm, Quillin, Andy Lee, Jermain Taylor, Korobov, BJS, and Murata would've made his reign before Jacobs a whole lot more impressive than the anemic bunch he feasted on.

He is rated fairly, which means decidedly being placed below Hagler and Hopkins. And he will have Canelo to thank if he ends up in the HOF.

Canelo is ineligible for the HOF being as he's a proven , convicted (NSAC style), Peds abusing cheat. He is a shoo in for the Hall of SHAME though

That's why he's the only guy on here who I set on ignore. A decade plus with daily posts about Margarito's bricks. GTFOH.

Canelo has gotten so much better since then.
The Canelo from the GGG fights is not on the level of the Canelo today

Because he didn't leave his proper weight ? Putting aside maybe he didn't use PEDs , then I guess you feel Monzon and Hagler weren't;t great either since they stayed at 160 too ?

Lara, Sturm, Quillin, Andy Lee, Jermain Taylor, Korobov, BJS, and Murata. And not taking an L and a draw in your two biggest fights.

    Give it a rest.
