I'm not rethinking the result. Canelo is going to beat the man up. I'm rethinking my opinion of the bout taking place.

At first, I was leaning the way that many of you had posted. It's absurd that Canelo is choosing to leave Benavidez hanging and too bad that Charlo is taking on Alvarez instead of facing the emerging Tim Tszyu. While all of that, and more, is true, the fact is that we shouldn't let what isn't happening stand in the way of appreciating what is happening.

In 1974, undisputed welterweight champion Jose Napoles went up two divisions to take on undisputed middleweight champ Carlos Monzon. Even though Monzon was justifiably a big favorite, the thought of two world champions and future Hall of Famers fighting was both exciting and enticing. I couldn't watch the fight but I was very excited to find out the result. Napoles did not leave his stool for round seven in case you're wondering. This weekend's fight is very similar.

From a boxing point of view, and at the risk of looking a bit like @shadow111, this fight really is a big deal. I'm going to watch this fight with great interest and then hope Alvarez-Benavidez and Charlo-Tszyu happen in 2024.

I'll watch, but I have a suspicion that Charlo is being well paid to lose and he'll hold up his end of the bargain.

Charlo is rustier than a bike at the bottom of a Dutch canal by now. Alvarez would have beaten him anyway but right now I think ginger turns him inside out. They better have paramedics on standby.

Charlo looking a little shaky before the big fight. Maybe the nerves will help. George Foreman said his knees were shaking when he was getting his instructions before the first Frazier fight.

I never liked this fight from the signing I just think Canelo is a way better boxer. I don't find the size difference to be that big of a factor because I think Charlo is a big Junior middleweight and Canelo is a little bit of a blown up super middleweight, I just think Charlo is too easy to hit and I've seen him out boxed by lesser Fighters

I got Canelo by stoppage in 9 or less. If Charlo comes to brawl, 6 or less.

Why do you have that suspicion?

Canelo ducked both Charlo's when he was a Jr. Middleweight, now he fights the lighter of the two when he has a 2 weight class advantage-typical Canelo. I think Charlo is a better pure boxer than Canelo, but Canelo will do what he always does- fight naturally smaller guys or guys that weren't given a long enough training camp- the exception being the only 2 guys he lost to.

How do you duck PBC fighter’s? Haymon is not allowing those fights outside of PBC for one. And Jermall was already exposed on turning down Canelo at 160. They wouldn’t even let Canelo fight Derevyanchenko. Even then Ezpinoza was mad that Derevyanchenko was allowed to fight Golovkin on DAZN lol.

Canelo’s fought the top 3 from 154-175. Rest is nitpicking. Especially when it comes to an organisation famous for not making fights.

Davis, Wilder, Charlo etc barely have resume’s and have never stepped outside PBC’s imbrella, but yea, it’s Joshua’s, Lomachenko’s, Canelo’s and everyone else’s fault that they fight the majority of the top guys with the exception of the PBC guys.

Opinions vary on the Charlo ducking, all I know is those guys used to call him out regularly back then and suddenly he vacated the division.

    This ^^

I like the Charlo bros. But they waited a dog's age to actually step up. Both STILL have weak resumes for their age. Hell, guys like Oscar had a better resume at age 24 then either does at 30.

But hey, They got paid well by Haymon, and apparently that's what truly matters to some fools on this board.

Vacated? He moved to face tougher more proven opponents. When they were in the same division, the Charlo's BOTH more or less had the resume of a prospect.

Charlo isn't the better boxer. He's more athletic but skill wise, he's not on Nelo's level. Charlo is going to get countered all night.

They were both champions I believe.
