Biggs would of been the underdog to an ancient Stevenson in the 84 Olympics if the Cubans had not boycotted. Stevenson showed he would been favourite by beating Tyrell in February 1984.

And the evidence suggests Tillman would struggled to win a medal if the entire Eastern Block had gone to LA.

Both were fine amatuers, (Biggs being better), but both benefitted hugely from the Olympics being boycotted by many Communist countries in 1984, perhaps even more so than some of their peers.

Ohh I couldn't agree more TBooze.. I am fanatical about the Cubans..

When i spoke about Tillman and Biggs being Great.. It wasn't said like All Time Great.. It was said like i miss them they were very good characters and came from a brilliant tight knit team.. which were not world beaters but are sorely missed now that they have retired..

Great people whos presence made the 80's a wonderful time for boxing.. :good
