Completely shot or very well past his prime? Still winning but a shadow of his younger self? Or a positive performance for once to go out with good memories? - this thread is dedicated to discuss who's time has come to retire from boxing before his health, legacy or reputation suffers serious or permanent damage, and I want YOUR suggestions of who should hang'em up and get out of our hurtful business. Don't worry, I'll start!

This weekend was an eye-opener (and in a few cases, eye-closer) for several former world champions, some just a few inches away from the HOF. Sugar Shane Mosley looked terrible and almost shot vs. Sergio Mora, in fact, if you think though, he looked pretty awful in 4 of his last 3 fights, and writers recently pointed out that he's already slurring with the words. With nothing left to conquer,
Shane Mosley, you gotta hang'em up!

Enzo Maccarinelli ended up on the canvas following one of the most brutal KOs you'll ever see. The former CW champion fought a good fight up to the scary ending, but it was lights out one too many, it just bad for his health.
Enzo Maccarinelli, you gotta hang'em up!

Carlos Baldomir is one of those deep deep underdogs who overcame several losses, visitor treatment and skill deficits to reach the top of the world and deserves a lot of respect for that. But ending up on the canvas face first is a sign for an iron-chinned 39 year old that's it's end of the road, fighting for $48.000 just doesn't worth it.
Carlos Baldomir, you gotta hang'em up!

Vivian Harris was once one of the best 3 140ers in the world until he got caught by Carlos Maussa and it is downhill ever since. While he looked in shape - Holyfield is in shape as well - getting knocked down 4 times and ending up on the canvas is a call for retirement.
Vivian Harris, you gotta hang'em up!

Jorge Arce is gunning for bantamweight glory, but he shouldn't, Vilfredo Vazquez Jr. will hurt him bad. Our members report that he got a gift win over Parra this weekend and looked terrible. It was a pretty awesome year for him picking up a SFW belt and beating Castillo, but it looks like time for retirement as his ring age is well past 40. A chance to go out with a W,
Jorge Arce, you gotta hang'em up!

:goodESPECIALLY Jones. Holy at least fights either other older guys or guys who don't offer much movement so it's not too bad but still bad. Hopkins should've retired after beating Pavlik and though he rarely shows declinement, he's still 45 and that's still old.

Bernard has been in decline bigtime since whooping Joppy. hopkins used to bust people up, and break them down en route to late stoppages, now all he tries to do is out point them, IMO Pascal is gonna beat him handily.

I really dont understand how everyone's saying shane absolutely needs to retire. I personally don't agree. sergio mora was totally negative for over half the fight, not to mention the bigger and physically stronger fighter, in addition to having a style that generally gives mosley problems. he faced similar fighters in wright and forrest during his prime and lost handily. could shane have looked better as a younger man? it's up for debate but there isn't much information supporting the possibility that he would look better. he's coming off a convincing loss, to no matter what the critics say, one of, if not the best pure boxer in the world. he did everything he could to win against mora and the judges robbed him. why should he retire? he's still a legitimate opponent who comes to fight hard, who has one of the best resume's in boxing. I don't think it's time for him to retire just yet. it's not like he's been producing stink fests. it takes two to tango, and he's not the fighter who's ever ****ing up the dance. fickle fans.

fighters who should retire: DEFINITELY holyfield, valuev, jones, vivian harris, jose luis castillo, jerry penalosa and possibly israel vasquez

10 yrs ago Mosley Hopped up 2 weight classes and beat ODLH, who was very, good at WW. Mosley at his peak was clearly an A-class fighter, lastnight Mosley drew with Mora, who has never been anything special. 39 is and has always been old for an athlete, Shane is old and should bow out before he gets embarrased (RJJ, Holyfield, Tyson) as other past greats have who fought on at an advanced age.

????Did you say that before it sounds familiar. If not or so, I agree Hopkins does look to go the distance but hasn't looked too bad since Joppy. The only bad fights he's had since that I can think of are Jones2 & Calz. Everything else hasn't been that bad plus he looked good versus Tarver & Pavlik & had his moments in his first fight with Taylor. If anything like I said before he hasn't shown decline much but like you were saying he's more accustomed to going the decision these days. Younger Hopkins looked to execute.

Seems like the only thing he has over Holy, Mike, & Roy is that he never has been stopped.

he's already been embarassed, by mayweather, a faster, stronger, generally more gifted fighter. just seven years ago he lost to forrest twice, winky twice, and fought a much closer rematch with oscar. that's not a far fall from today, especially since mora didn't come to fight until over half of the fight was finished and had physical advantages that mirrored both winky and forrest. roy jones has been getting stopped and roughed up badly, holyfield is nearly 50 and simply can't produce anymore, and Tyson shouldn't even be considered. mosley's definitely declined, but his level of decline can't even be mentioned in the same breath as those three guys. come on.

:rofl All jokes aside I forgot Izzy he does need to hang them up I worry of his eye. Marquez should hang em up to I just think the reason he looked ok against Vasquez was because he was facing a very shot fighter. I don't want to give the "shot card" to Raul Marquez yet but I worry about him & will have to pay close attention to his next fight hopefully his last. You don't like Harold? OKAY JIM!!!!!

    Jamesy Toney.

Needs subtitles to understand him he slurs his speech so bad. Is WAAAAAYYYYY past his prime and hasnt had a meaningful matchup since his fight with holyfield in 2003 and this could even be questioned as meaningful. It seems he believes he his days in boxing are numbered as he is trying to make a move to MMA, a move in which he looked pitiful !!

James Toney IT TIME TO HANG EM UP
