So, he has a signed contract ( This content is protected ) to fight against Danny Williams before or by July 5th. Now, of course, this may or may not happen, but what's more interesting is a hypothetical tournament involving 90s fighters, including the great Mike Tyson. The nostalgia would get the best of me, and I'd definitely pay to see that—but not as an exhibition, though. I’d want to see real fights. What do you guys, especially the enthusiasts of these kinds of events, think? Might even get Lewis out of retirement and have him return for a competition involving the last great heavyweights of the last great decade.
I actually think someone like Ibeabuchi would be at an advantage in that situation. His career ended prematurely thus never taking any real damage compared to Tyson who copped a bit towards his finish.
and during his prime against Douglas, and in his second prime vs Holyfield in which he became shot according to fans only after being battered.
You think one of the only former champs to retire on top is going to come back for an old man battle? Highly doubtful. I mean, he might well be there to commentate on the fight, but he ain't fighting again. ... and if I can add something about old man battles, the only ones I can really be ok with are ones that operate like the Tyson-Jones fight did. A gentleman's agreement to not try to actually hurt each other, and then just a hard sparring session. The Tyson-Jones fight wasn't particularly exciting, but it was hard to get mad over because they weren't putting each other in danger.
Ike has an amazing body for a 52 year old man. The muscles and power are there, although I have yet to see him move with more fluidity on his legs. But I guess this is what we can expect from these older fighters anyway. Tyson is more impressive I must admit. This content is protected A gentleman's agreement so that Tyson tries his best not to kill Jones? No, thank you. Jones didn’t belong in the ring against any real heavyweight. Also, I'm not going to pay to see a sparring session.
Ýeah, true statement and it always makes me laugh as when I recall winning money on Evander it always gets downplayed when at the time it was the bet of the century.
According to what I can find he got released from prison in 2015 and has not entered a ring since then. He would have been 42 years old then had he fought in the year of his release. Perhaps capable of boxing a bit at that age and proving something. Its now 2025. According to some based on wins over Tua and Chris Byrd before then he would have been the king of the division, simply bizarre projection.
