The front neck bridge is a killer exercise.
I used to do the other one and progressed well and got strong on it, but I found the front one to be a real "don't try this at home, kids" type of proposition.

 

I dont like the bridges personally. One false move and it could be a lifetime of pain. I did plate curls and harness work in the past now I stick with rubber band work...That agility that Liston shows in incredible he just hops up on the table into a hand stand and rolls his neck!!! Only other guy I seen do that was Bobby Gunn. Not on a table though

 

Liston was an "enforcer" in his previous "career", and brought that image and "psych"over to boxing in the late 50's & early 60's. And you can see why it worked on Patterson, but didn't work on Clay/Ali.

 

I'm not seeing the calf development here fellas. It's like God decided to put on the weight in his fists. How disporpotionate.

 

Great video! Liston is a guy that would be a handful for anyone throughout boxing history. Longest reach of any of the heavyweight champs despite being barely 6'1. Hit like a truck and was tough as nails.

When you consider the start he got in life where he came from and the circumstances he did all right. The fact that he wasn't a serial killer has him ahead of the game.
His friends say that he could be hell of a nice guy. When he wasn't drinking. I tend to believe that because I know a lot of guys like that over the years. After a while Sonny was getting harassed by the police department in several cities he did enough to warrant being watched but the Police did more than than that.
It is understandable the the PD would be enthusiastic after Somny broke the cops leg. He he brought on those problems. They put their share of sausage pinches on him.
