Yust say that Mickey Walker had got the nod over Jack Sharkey as he verry nearly did.

You would have a former welterweight champion beating a future heavyweight champion.

He is in my top 5 too, but in my mind that would shut any critics up about it.

    Hamed vs Barrera

People would appreciate Hamed's ability a lot more.

It was never in the cards.

Besides, Holmes is a top six ATG without that.

    Jones -Tarver (2).

If Jones wins and then retires, he's the greatest since Ali.

Liston vs Ali 1, he would have had a long reign in my opinion.

    Maybe Norton vs Ali 3

Losing to Ali was the best thing that ever happened to big George.

Before the fight he was a sullen scowling boor.

In his second life he accomplished as much or more as in his first championship quest and became a much better human being.

Toney's loss to Roy Jones... had Toney come into that fight in shape & given a good performance (maybe a SD loss or win) he would have a lot more respect from boxing fans who know the sport.

Mike McCallum's loss to Kalambay in 1988. If McCallum had won this fight he would have been considered one of the most dominant 154-160lbs fighters from 1984-1991. Because of this loss to Kalambay people don't think McCallum was one of the best (or IMO the best) fighters of that time (even though he was).
McCallum fought Kalambay again in early 1991 & won a close decision.

    Jeffries-Johnson

Mr. Jeff becomes the first man to regain the title and retires undefeated.

The loss to Holyfield certainly does'nt diminish Holmes, if anything as a Holmes fan I'd reverse his first loss to Spinks.
Holmes may have took him a little lightly, but had he won that fight he'd probably would have eclipsed Marciano's record and retired undefeated.....
.....had that happened, I doubt Holmes would have wanted to put himself in a situation to fight again and risk his undeafeted record with his legacy already sealed.

I reckon Holmes retiring undefeated may have merited a top 3 and maybe even #1 by a few!

The biggest impacts would of been fighters like Paycheck, Zyglewicz or Dunn reversing a defeat to Louis, Frazier or Ali....

In the sprit of the thread Patterson beating Liston would of in the long run been huge to Patterson if he had won the rematch. I think though if he had won the first fight everyone would have just said Liston was a flash in the pan.

Schmeling beating Louis in their rematch would of had earth shattering consequences

Decent post, could you imagine the hype if Holmes did get the 50-0? Jeeeez LOL!
