If it's the smaller man getting ping ponged around the ring like that does the ref stop it or save him with a 8 count?
Stops it. Its a good thing that Round 9 was recorded so that everyone in history can vote on whether it should have been stopped and Fury waved off. I bet that over 90% would agree it should have been stopped. Fury seems to always get lucky in those situations just like with his cut against Wallin.
In another universe the referee would have stopped the first Wilder fight, the one against Otto Wallin and last night's. But credit to Fury's remarkable powers of recovery.
I don't see why people are so fixated on 'the fight should've been stopped in R9', like the Wilder 1 R12 KD. Fury to his credit recovered incredibly like he always does and remained lucid and competitive for the rest of the fight, adding another chapter to a spectacular fight. Alternatively, you could argue that at any point during that crazy period of Fury falling onto the ropes on all 4 sides of the ring, the ref could've deemed that the ropes held him up and called a standing 8-count.
Cause he was given 20+ seconds, and he was interfering in Usyk work, as he touches him on the shoulder, which interrupt Usyk works to finish him off. Also if you want to go for standing count, you do it the first time, not when the guy is on every single rope. That was clear screw job to save Fury ***.
That's at the ref's discretion, especially when judging if the ropes held someone up or if they're just leaning back into the ropes. My point is that the ref did Fury no favours, and in fact a lot of harm, by not calling a standing 8-count at any of the 4 or so chances he had to do so. So there are several ways to look at this, unless you're clouded by bias (and I say this as an Usyk fan).

Disagree. He save him, as gives him plenty of time to recover. 20+ seconds after he is being beaten to pulp. If he was called it early, there would have been more KD or even a KO, and he coulnd't save him. And no it's not referee discretion, Fury was like a bag of potato going from one rope to another, he has no legs under him, this was clear.. Everyone is talking about that. Go watch it again, and tell me how the ref didn't save this fraud for a certain KO !!! Haye said Fury was KOed, even Fury one of the best buddies Chisora said this was a super long count. And it's always for that big fraud. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/FzGWUyRdx-0 This content is protected
He stayed on his feet nonetheless, at which point (again) ref's discretion because a prerequisite for a definite KO is actually going to ground unless you do a Tommy Morrison and get tangled in the ropes. Yes, count was on the long side. I counted around 15 before fight resumed, but I still don't think that would've finished it. Don't get why people are raging about it. Fight went on, it was fun, Usyk won. Whatever.
Bro stop with that refere discretion. If that was Usyk, the fight would have been stopped 10 seconds earlier, not given Usyk a count. The guy was on a jelly legs wobbling from one side of the ring to the other. The standing count should have been done the moment Fury went on jelly legs half the ring and falls to the ropes. Trying to argue that is ridiculous and you are showing incredible bias. Then Usyk would have more time to either finish him or KD him again. What referee did was saving Fury. You either interfere and gives 8th. count straight away or wave the fight after you led it go. He was also interfering with Usyk action. Fury was gone, this was a KO win stolen from Usyk record, and everyone knows it !!!
Stop with the hypothetical 'if that was Usyk' nonsense and 'everyone knows it' hyperbole. Neither of those things are real. But hey, I guess you're looking to be outraged by something for some reason so don't let me stop you. I'm gonna go and bask in the afterglow of a great fight where my guy won
