Pretty interesting book review here: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=30369&more=1 Would be curious to get some feedback from the Classic section.
It's not so much a review as a re-telling of some of the key moments. It won't be of interest to most people here because they know the bones of the Burns story and Pollack's stylings.
Agreed. The book itself is another terrific job by Adam. I'm not sure what the "review's" intentions are ....
I haven't been able to purchase the book as of yet but i've read quite a lot of extracts and have been impressed with everything so far.
IT really sheds light on the career of Burns ... he really had a nice run ... you can chart the trajectory of his career, coming from no where, upsetting Hart, establishing his own title reign ... he really was more than some pygmy Johnson toyed with .... it is a terrific resource as are all of Adam's books ... Adam is creating the definitive body of work on the heavyweight champions .. nothing like reading detailed first hand accounts of what actually went down and charting how careers were formed and morphed over time .. I treasure every one of them and reread them often.
The review's intentions are, very simply, to review the key content of the book to give readers a clear idea of what it is about and what they points are - in order to pique interest for finding out the deals. It is also to promote awareness and understanding of Pollack and his work.
Fair enough. Please appreciate, to me, that it reads far more like a cut and paste from the book itself detailing Burn's career than a review of pros and cons of Adam's work ... that being said I'm sure it's all good.
