True. I wonder if the ones who denigrate Ali's perfornance in this fight, realise that they're selling Frazier short by doing so...?.

Yeah, prime Frazier would beat Ali and Foreman on the same night.

Frazier was so great that if he hadn't been beaten shot by a rusty Ali he'd still be good enough in 1986 to give Tyson a hell of a fight, and thus be regognized as the GOAT.:D

I love how he's supposed to have totally dominated Ali, but in the next breath the fight supposedly ruined him and thus excuses him being bounced around by the man who lost to Jimmy Young. Btw, Boxed Ears; didn't you have something to say about said Jimmy Young?:smoke

I never robbed Frazier of any due credit in FOTC... I said he won fair and square, but it was not by a wide-ass margin in my view.... Though after reviewing the fight last night, I think one judge scored for Frazier by 11 to 4 over 15 rds, if I heard that correctly.... Now that card was bull**** if that card was scored that way....

8-6-1 for Frazier is more like it.......

About the rematch I have to say, though, that Ali's holding really bothered me last time I watched it. Frazier had a right to feel aggrieved by Perez' performance that night (as had of course Ali to a certain extent).

I had it something similar. 9-6 I think, but 10-5 could probably be doable as well. But no more than that IMO.

To be fair to Joe, this kind of score doesn't really do his victory justice since he had two rounds that would have been 10-8 in a ten must systet. In other words he won by some 5 points on my card, which is a comfortable enough margin. But still, almost every round except those two was hard fought and some were absolutely brutal.

Neither Ali or Joe were the same immediately after FOTC in their next couple of fights..... Didn't Ali look horrid with Jorgen Blin and Buster Mathis and Frazier looking okay, but not great against Ron Stander and Terry Daniels in '72???

I wish Frazier would have fought...

    Liston in 1968 or '69,
    Patterson in 1972,
and Young, Lyle, and Shavers at some point.

I also wish he would have still been good enough in 1978 to have fought his old friend Ken Norton for the WBC HW belt... instead of Holmes getting the shot.

Frazier was slipping after his "Thrilla" 1975 fight with Ali, however, he could've done better in '76 against Foreman in New York had he been in better shape, and not the 224 pounds he brought into the ring..... Had Frazier, who was only 32, been in better shape, he still would've lost to Foreman, but not in such a pathetic manner..... Yet, I know, Frazier's style played into Foreman's hands / gloves..... Even though Frazier tried to box Foreman in '76... It still was useless.... At 224, Frazier had no stamina......
