That's one of those fights where lots of consecutive rounds were super close, and one fighter edging them on the cards can provide a wide score. I had JMM winning with or without the knockdown counting, but it was close. Great fight.

I just watched it before seeing this thread, I had it 114-115 for Barrera. with the knockdown counting it would have been wider. Great fight. I can see a win for Marquez too without the knockdown but the 10-8 round for Marquez keeps it incredibly close. A shame they never had a rematch

Wow. I may have to revisit. I've never managed to score it for MAB.

I've always been fair and objective when it comes to MAB. Everything else is bull****. Just sayin'.

I had it like 7-5 in favour of JMM last time i scored it. I think.

I think I had it a draw with the point deduction.

I have it 7-5 over three different scorings.

Marquez deserves to win the 8th. The point deduction wipes out the knockdown, and he was on his way to a possible 10-8 as the round ended. His 10-8 round helps him, but he deserves a 10-9 or a in that round if you feel the need to deliver a referee proof score. That is my opinion.

Barrera boxes very well in spots. His jab throws Marquez off, and whenever JMM tried to force shifts in range, Marco whacked him.

However, JMM landed the harder shots all night long. He walked Barrera into some beauties, and his right hand over the jab landed often. He pulled it out in the final rounds-Barrera looked haggard, and Marquez was coming on.

Marquez won, but it's been a while since I've watched it. Very good fight.

Would have been alot more interesting if Barrera had less milege on him going into that fight.

Marquez won this fight, close, but clear. He landed the sharper and cleaner blows throughout the fight. Although most of the rounds were competitive, Marquez won his rounds clearly. I'm pretty sure I scored it 8 rounds to 4 for Marquez.

Would loved to have seen the featherweight, Marquez, who was nimbler on the balls of his feet and with quicker hands against that Barrera you mentioned.
