A RARE Original On-Site Poster from The Thrilla in Manila, 1975

This epic battle fought in the Philippines on September 30, 1975. The "Thrilla in Manilla" was the rubber match between the two heavyweights and it proved to be the most exciting and grueling Ali/Frazier fight. Ali won the bout and retained his title when Frazier retired on his stool prior to the fifteenth and final round.

Ali collapsed from exhaustion after the fight of which he said was "as close to death as I could imagine".

It was revealed that Ali was going to quit during the end of the 14th round but Frazier's corner beat him to it. Fraizer wanted to fight. It was a fight of the century.

Among other things, I read somewhere that Ali was telling his trainer to cut his gloves off because he was so exhausted and he couldn't go on anymore.

and he fainted after the fight. Frazier could have won had his handlers allowed him to continue.
