I remember some people saying that Bivol won because he's bigger and he can take Canelo's punch. Looking back, I think it's pretty clear that Bivol won because he's just better. Bivol was clam and collected throughout the fight, which is reminiscent of all the fights in his career. He was controlling the distance and occasionally let Canelo get inside, so he can counter him. He countered Canelo with the same punch over and over again, which is the left hook. He lets Canelo throw, and then whacks him with a left counter upstairs over and over. If you guys remember, Canelo got so frustrated by that punch, he picked up Bivol. Even if Canelo was little bigger, he'd still have lose the same way. Bivol is just better than him.
If Canelo doesn’t put a rehydration clause in the contract he will lose … Hell he still might even if he does. Some people are just stubborn , but that’s the competitive fire.
Rehydration clause alone is not sufficient. Canelo also needs to collaborate with the ref and the judges. Maybe Las Vegas lobby might need to interfere with Bivol's test samples as well.
He already showed he can compete with him the first time. It was his stamina that let him down, not his skills. Rewatch the first 4 rounds, those were highly competitive rounds. Canelo landed brutal uppercuts, was making Bivol miss most of his shots.
If you don't think Canelo stands a chance in a rematch, then you might be in for a surprise. If Canelo paces himself better and wins a decision, you'll have the people who said he doesn't stand a chance claiming that the judges were paid off, that he really did win and just got a gift decision. The same people complaining that the 115-113 x3 was too close were the same people who said Canelo would never fight him at 175, or that he would only fight him at a catchweight, with a reyhdration clause, or at 168. It's the same BS we hear all the time. The logic doesn't even make sense since Bivol is a small LHW. What I would say is beating Bivol is not going to be easy, for anyone. And Canelo may lose again, but to claim that he doesn't have the skills to compete with Bivol is laughable. His skills are what made him P4P #1, you don't become P4P #1 without having extraordinary skills. The problem is that Bivol is highly skilled as well, so when you have 2 highly skilled fighters and one guy is fighting out of his weight, it favors the bigger guy with better stamina. That's what happened the first time.
P4P is a nonsense. Canelo is far from having the greatest skills and no - has no chance against Bivol. He was able just to survive a hard beating.
He has no chance but despite gassing hard he was still only 1 round away from a draw? If he doesn't gas as hard in the rematch, he'll be able to win a couple more rounds and win the fight.
When you fight Canelo, you fight Clenbuterol, at least and the judges. He was far away from a draw, but even if he was one round away from, how exactly "the man who deserves to be P4P number 1 because of his skills" didn't find a way to even draw Bivol?
You know the answer to that. Because he was fighting Bivol at his weight and Bivol is a highly skilled fighter himself with great stamina.
So Canelo is no match for Bivol at that category. Light heavy is at best the highest Canelo can go with his height, but still - seems he has no place there. Regarding Bivol's height - he can't go down more than that, maybe some catchweight against Canelo at around 74-75 kg. I see you're big fan of Canelo. I used to sympathize him and in a way I still do because he however dares to challenge a lot of fighters and is a good one himself. Being 32 years old, he has 62 fights already, which is very respectable. But he went the wrong way in his career - became the golden chicken and therefore the cards play always in his favor or simply said - there's some corruption around his career.
