First off, great post. You backed up your statements with evidence. I did watch the fight for the first time based on the videos you posted. It was a dominant performance. Kessler would be super tough for any SMW. I can't believe Andrade's chin. It's unreal. He even had no mark on his face. What surprised me a lot about Andrade's game plan was that he didn't try to make it more of an in fight. He seemed to stay in perfect range for Kessler's jab and right hand. I would've tried to crowd him more and take away distance.
great post by the thread starter kessler is a force to be reckoned with hope fully the 175,168 and 160 looks like the 80's wiht all these great fighters fighting eachother no matter win lose or draw. make for some great matches Kessler, miranda, Pavlik,AA,Dawson,Diaconu,Bute,Andrade,Taylor,Lacy,Green, not tom mention Cloud from friday alejandro barrio great power bad chin ,or bika,. let the old guy's go like hopkin, RJJ, let JOe retire(even though he's one of my favorites.) as they are not in there prime and shows us nothing if they lose . let the young gaurd fight and pass the torch
Where's that clip of the yank commentator on ESPN who said Calzaghe was scared of getting in the ring with Kessler and that the Dane was top 3 p4p material? Obviously, before the fight was official.
I would see a double standard, had Pavlik not beaten Miranda, Taylor x 2 and have his next fight against Hopkins. Kessler hasn't beaten anyone of any real note, every name he has beaten with the exception of Andrade had multiple losses and it's just around the corner that Andrade gets beat by Bute. Oh, I see.. he goes from Jab/jab/right. To Jab/Right/Jab. Is this the great adjustment he makes? Kessler fights in only one gear, as was completely evident against Calzaghe when Calzaghe changed the fight around and out-jabbed Kessler. Andrade didn't have a gameplan because he is nothing more than a crude chin who walks at his opponents. People try and mistake him for being like Margarito - no way, Margarito has the tools to break down opponents, Andrade relies on beating **** opposition with weak hearts, like Mack - even after Mack dropped him twice. Anyone with any real boxing acumen knew what was going to happen in that fight.
What impressed me about the Andrade fight is up until then I had questions over Kessler's stamina because it seemed to me he lost a fair bit energy if a fight went to long. He seemed to have breaks often over his longer fights. But he moved constantly and threw 70+ punches per round and seemed to do it easily. That being said Kessler doesnt have to many cards up his sleeves, his does a couple of things really really well and I think against Zaghe he lacked a bit of versatility. But its going to take a very good fighter to knock him off again.
Not sure about that. There have been many Calzaghe knockers who constantly question his willingness to fight. Dettloff of The Ring magazine said he would never fight Kessler or Hopkins.
You should've watched the 2 Kessler fights before posting, because now it's evident that you have no idea what are you talking about. Which puts you in a pretty funny position in a thread where all you have to do is click on the PLAY button and see it for yourself. Should I even try to make argument how Kessler changed his game plan, the pace etc. vs. Calzaghe - only to Joe to adjust quickly and give all sort of headaches to Mikkel? No. And I assume you won't watch the fights either to see that Kessler usually throws more than a jab and a right hand (that is Pavlik's game), so why arguing? So here's a gif. Only because Mack has a rotten chin. Mack thoroughly outboxed him, and he's no master boxer. Put even an average chin on Mack, and he wins that fight. Bute should prove exactly how average Andrade is by putting together as dominant of a performance as Kessler. Andrade is what he is - the ulitmate gatekeeper. He'll ferret out anyone who doesn't have a good chin, good endurance, or decent boxing skills. But if he's a contender, that's just a sign that the division is weak, not that Andrade is that good.
No. The fact that an agressive all-out attacker like Andrade is not the champion is a sign that the division is strong. Margarito on the other hand has noone with enough skill to effectively counter his style built on stamina, chin and heart. Magarito (in a bigger version) could never have been champ at SMW because Calzaghe and Kessler would have beaten him decisively.
I have to agree with you on this one ! Bute will expose a couple of Andrade's weaknesses; his hand speed, his lame foot movement, a defense consisting of blocking shots with his face. Plus, he's trainning with the Grant brothers,so, he will also be more on the counter punching side of the fight. I don't think he will win many rounds against a much more skilled Bute, he might even not finish on his feet for the first time of his career. Something Kessler was not able to do. Anyway, that's what I beleive will happend, maybe then Bute and Kessler could go at it for a unification fight. Who knows what can happend..... So bad my time machine is broken, can't wait. Cheers!
