Nah, Nas has an underrated chin, Nas has a better chance against Erik than MAB as Erik's balls will make him go to WAR with Hamed. Seldom would I pick a fighter to come off better than Hamed in a slugfest. Great fight it would be though, but not one that I would confidently put money on.

I think it was obvious at the time that boxing wasn't his no 1 priority anymore, however after the Barrera loss he made sure everyone knew he had a rematch clause in the contract and was definately going to enforce it.....and then he didn't. That's what did the real deep damage to his legaqcy in my opinion.

I think he needed the Calvo fight before any other superfight, to see where he was at; he knew there was nothing left to give. No shame.

Lol, Bungu and Vazquez were NOT considered on the level of EM and MAB, both of those guys were considered monsters at that time.

Naz isn't a hard guy to figure out. He had maybe the best featherweight punch in the history of the division, and he was athletic. His unorthodox style could get him past the b-level guys and he could make it look spectacular because of his power, but he was never going to beat the A listers. imho, a young Kevin Kelly would have murderized him, he gave him the fight of his life WELL past his prime.

A touch of revisionism in this post. At the time Hamed fought Vazquez, Vazquez was WBA champ in Hamed's division - a division MAB had yet to campaign in while MAB had just lost 2 off the bounce to Junior Jones. AT THE TIME surely Vazquez was the most viable opponent.

As for Bungu he held his world title at Super Bantam for 6 years, MAB at the point Hamed fought Bungu had now twice lost his Super Bantamweight title twice while Erik was making his FW debut against Hamed victim Kevin Kelley. Bungu and Vazquez were VERY credible opponents.

I loved watching this guy fight up until the Kelley fight. It was all downhill from there.

If he had Manny's discipline and maturity, he would be an ATG.

I didn't say they weren't credible, I just said they weren't considered as great champions. They were ok. David Diaz level champs.
