Oh wow, lol, I didn't think I'd be commentating on this topic until I saw this gem of a post. Not only did you conjure up some far out conspiracy theory but, you provide the evidence against it in the same breadth. So you point out they wore the same shoes in an attempt to show that Clottey's shoes must have been tampered with, which simultaneously rules out the brand being the problem. So Clottey shoes were tampered with yet, (lol) the effect somehow did not take place until the middle of the fight. Which means, not only did they get a hold of Clottey's shoes, they managed to create a perfect chemical concoction to apply to the shoes which delivered a timed effect in order to accomplish a loss of traction?? Not only did you create some ridiculously unbelievable excuse for Clottey, you ignore the very real effect of Cotto's face being split by Clottey' massive dome, bravo sir, you take hating to comically great new heights.
For clarification, they both wore the same brand. Cotto was wearing the brand new boxing boot edition of the shoe. Video evidence from the second half of the fight shows Clottey slip sliding when throwing shots, that's a fact. You added a bit of your own sauce to what I typed.
It could have gone either way, but Clottey choked as he often does. Clottey is pretty solid technically, and can be a joy to watch when he lets his hands go, but dude is just a choke artist.
No doubt. Clottey was, in a way, this generation's Quartey. He really was a very good fighter who clearly had the ability to trouble many of the best. He caught some tough breaks. The injury against Margarito, who he was outboxing. The SD loss against Cotto, which I attended and really thought Clottey won. The no-show against Pacquiao and the Alvarez bout which fell through. Too bad, I would still like to see him fight a guy like Bundrage.
I think I had Clottey by a point, but I remember him taking command in the middle, and then tanking it the final 2 rounds where Cotto showed better championship round stamina than he typically does. I had Mosley beating Cotto, too. But they were both close fights that I don't consider robberies.
Hey is this Manny's British friend? Do you guys go out for fish and chips together?? Do you have tea together??? Btw, is it tea time yet???? Hahahaha!!
No not too egregious, but prove once Cotto's limitations against top tier fighters and even second tier ones like Joshua.
