I know many will probably disagree or hate what im about to say but I am entitled to my opinion on the matter. 1st off after watching the replay of Cotto vs. Margarito, it became more clear how really slow, wide, akward and just plain limitedly awful Margarito is....He also hit Cotto with 3 low blows the last one the ref didnt even see...Cotto was actually really pounding the **** out of Margo but to Margo's credit he was not hurt at all...Could you imagine how someone with stamina and defense (like Mayweather) can make Margo look? I see Margo continuing to bully wins in the division but not with skills, but with sheer will...That will soon catch up with him...Should he fights some one who can take what Margo dishes out (like Williams) the boxing world will need another wagon to jump on...Margarito will go down as a super limited fighter who overachieved with minimal skills, a great chin (at 147) and a high workrate...There is not much more to this ultimate hype job...:bbb
I agree! The only thing that made him win the figth was his iron chin, if cotto fought like that with any another fighter they wouldn stand that much punishment
Wow..not much love for Margarito...He won the fight emphatically, regardless of his limits. As silly as Clottey made him look early, Tony won that fight aswell...He embarrassed Cintron twice. And only just lost to Williams. Plenty fighters have done very well with not much more...I have always said Mayweather beats him but Floyd beats everyone and we will probably never see that fight. I never rated him and never thought that much of him earlier in his career but he continues to prove my earlier opinion wrong...His record speaks for itself.
hype job my ass...margarito performs and does what he has to. and when he doesnt win, he gives a great account of himself
I don't think its a given that Floyd beats Marg. Bad style for Floyd. Floyd could be put into a shell by a high work rate. The thing with MArgo is that his punches are wide but they are followed by others in rapid succesion and the guy can alternate between head and body attack better than most people I can think of. This is the thing. Floyd needs space (which he won't get against MArgo) to be able to tee off his very accurate punches but he doesn't employ combos enough, he does well against a very sloppy but hot offense in Hatton (jumping in chin first) or slower older fighters like Hoya and Baldomir (who will follow, stay in front of him, without throwing any punches,) but will he do so against Margarito. I have not seen anything in Floyd at his 147-154 days to make me believe that he will. I've always thought a fighter that can stay busy at range can beat him.
i somewhat agree but slow and sluggish doesnt really apply to a fighter that throws a continuous and steady barrage of punches round after round i still think cotto is a far superior boxer and just had no plan B for the freak chin of margarito
word, no one else would have taken that punishment at 147, after he was spent he could do nothing else
